Closing down in Febuary, another failure for the UK people, staff are polite in tough times.

I have just read that Barclays are closing the Abingdon branch in Jan 2024. They have now closed both Abingdon branches and Didcot. I bank cash regularly so where will I be able to do this? What is going on?

Pathetic excuse of a high-street bank. 2pm on a Friday afternoon, only one cashier open. Several staff on the floor trying to get people to use the ATM instead of deal with a person! How about getting more cashiers? "sorry, company policy" ...

I tried to change a direct debit regarding my Barclays mortgage in the branch. The young lady serving me had no direct debit forms. Only a laptop and she couldn't sort this out for me. She phoned the mortgage people but couldn't get through. Abysmal customer service. Not her fault of course. I also wanted to show someone my marriage certificate to change the name on my account. No appointments available to see anyone about this for several weeks. At a corporate level, they clearly don't care at all about their ordinary customers.

Just been there around 10am - being scared seeing reviews I will waste a lot of time there today I decided to choose this branch and literally I was able to complete my task under 2 minutes from entering.Cash machines are in place, working fine, and you can quickly deposit money or pay the bills. Also, there was some human presence behind the desks :)It's is not a perfect place but definitely underrated

Stop shutting the branches

What a joke - complimented by an absolutely terrible phone banking service. Each sending you between branch and phone banking.

Weird opening hours (shuts by 4:30 and closed on Mondays). Most of the desks are closed, so you either have to wait in line for a long time or use the self service, which doesn't do everything you need. You go INTO a bank to speak to a person, that's kind of the point of banks, however Barclays are makong it very clear they dont want to actaully have to deal woth customers. You have all my money, I'd expect a much better service that's open more regularly, with more staff. However staff that are there are very friendly. Just Barclays being greedy, maximising profit over service.

4 people on today long queue to see anyone I took 1/2 day to get a chaos payment done to pay my mortgage. Felt for the staff, banks don?t care anymore for customers who need something done face to face.

Absolutely shocking having to wait over an hour to see someone to complete a simple paper transaction. Can't really blame the one member of staff seeing customers, it is the number off them behind closed doors and screens that is frustrating.I get the distinct impression that Barclays don't want to be in Retail Banking anymore!

We waited to be seen, to see someone to do something that wasn't an option over the counter/phone or internet, was triaged by a member of staff and told to sit down. Others had already been waiting over 90 mins + had to pop out periodically to top parking meters. The bank should open up more branches locally for face to face interviews instead of closing down counters and branches. There are still good reasons to do business face to face and not on the internet or over the phone. Please wake up employ more staff and offer a ticket system so others don't queue jump.Whilst big bonuses are paid out to the chosen few this money could be better utilised employing face to face staff
