Very friendly. Needed to wait for prescription to arrive, but they phoned me as soon as it was in.

Just came back from my latest and last visit to this pharmacy, never going back there again. This used to be a good pharmacy but lately they can?t keep up with the workload and you have to wait for around half an hour to get a prescription that was sent to them a week before. But that?s not the dealbreaker here, the staff is so rude! When I complained about the long wait I got a loud response from the back of the pharmacy that I can change my nominated pharmacy if I?m not happy. Well that?s what I?ve just did!

It really surprised me that some customers gave a bad review of Avicina Pharmacy employees. They are lovely, friendly, helpful and hardworking So, how could they be rude? Don?t we the customers be respectful to them to be respected? Very well done to Avicina Pharmacy for employing well-deserved employees. Pharmacy for employing a well deserved employees.

Changed my nominated pharmacy to Boots, as some of the staff (Moira) clearly need training in customer service.I first visited Avicenna Abingdon on the 10th of November. I spoke to Moira, and asked if my ADHD medication had arrived. She informed me that the pharmacy had received a slip that day from my psychiatrist at Oxfordshire ADHD Service, but they did not have the medication in store so it would need to be ordered. She promised me the medication would be ready to pick up the next day.I visited the pharmacy the next day on the 11th as planned. I again spoke to Moira and asked to pick up medication for myself which had been discussed the day before. She then informed me that the medication was not here. I asked why, as the day before she informed me that the medication would be ready. She then glared at me and asked why I didn't have a paper prescription to give to her. I informed her that Methylphenidate is a controlled drug, and thus has incredibly strict rules regarding prescriptions. I explained to her that my psychiatrist sent the medication to the pharmacy, where the pharmacist dispenses it. I explained this to her multiple times, as this is the law regarding controlled medication. She did not listen to me and again asked for a receipt of the medication being ordered, as she "could not find it". I offered to show her an email from my psychiatrist, but she sneered at me and said she wouldn't look at it, despite her chastising me earlier for not having a proper prescription receipt which is out of my control for the reason above.

I usually get my private flu jabs at Boots, but they didn't have any slots till mid-Dec so I booked one at Avicenna. Although everything was done fairly quickly, the pharmacist didn't show any human skills. A stark contrast with Boots pharmacists who are always very friendly and accommodating, plus they also disinfect the skin before injecting, offer a plaster and suggest to hang around for 10 min after the jab, in case one gets dizzy. I didn't get any of that at Avicenna, although the pharmacist did remember to sanitise their hands when she was done with me. Hence, two stars

Waited 50 minutes for my flu vaccination, staff told me it takes a long time to do flu jabs. Would not recommend this service

Collect my prescription every month, always good service, never had an issue and always on time without fail. Seeing some of the bad reviews makes me wonder what is going on with people as the team are always polite. I have overheard patients be unpleasant towards the staff when they try to explain they don't have an item in stock which is out of their control and the staff members are still being nice trying to offer multiple different options for them to have their medication ASAP. Even with the 'Anti-Abuse' poster on clear view, doing a very difficult job they seem to still get abuse more often than not.More appreciation needs to be shown in a job that is not easy and when people are trying their very best. Rudeness has been made to become the norm.Appreciate what workers are trying to do for you, being kind and patient costs nothing, being kind will get you a long way and will make employee's go above and beyond to help.

Very efficient service and polite when I have been there, even though some customers were rather impatient and taking problems with their prescriptions out on the staff who proceeded to help them. My prescriptions have always been ready unlike when I used Tesco. I'm surprised at the negative reviews as they have always been very nice to me.

I use the avicenna app for repeat prescriptions, which works very well, I get notified when done and they are always ready when I pick them up.

These guys are a relatively small chemist, not as big as Boots but bigger than Jhoots, business wise, not building size. They are one of the best (sadly of a bad bunch in Abingdon), but they are always trying to accommodate my needs, and I'm probably one of their most annoying customers! (I have a different prescription every week and call Avicenna about them, A LOT) but they overall hide their annoyance and as I said they try to accommodate my pernickety needs! My only complaints are: They don't have a call system, so if someone else is calling them or they don't hang up properly, you're not placed in a queue, it just gives you the engaged tone! Secondly, they have one member of staff (I'm disabled and mainly deal with them over the phone so I can't be sure who it is) who lies to you to get you off the phone. For example I rang once at 9;30am and asked if they had something in stock, and the one who lies said "we don't have it!" I asked if she would possibly please check for me, she went quiet for 3 or 4 seconds and said "We don't have it!!" I rang back 5 minutes later and got someone else, I asked them the same thing, they went away for 5 mins and came back and said not inky did they have the item but they had all the items I needed and would make them up for me!! There are many things she's lied to me about, also lied to my mother! When I find out who she is I will edit this review!!Anyway, overall they really do all they can to help you!!

I put a prescription with doctors last week, when I went in Monday, then told me it went on Saturday, but when I spoke doctors they said Friday, I just had a operation, on Monday I had doctors appointment , so I thought I check it was ready , they said no , they said Tuesday they would deliver them to me , well it?s Thursday now , I phone them and I got told I didn?t ask for delivery, like I?m recovering from a operation so I got all the time in the world to run around,

My husband just came in to pick up my prescription. We had been told it would be ready, it wasn't, he was asked if I pay, when he said I didn't he was told to fill in the box and asked for the reason. Then after he signed he was told off for not putting in the date. I understand you don't know that he is dyslexic but you should treat all customers with respect and offer to help them not quiz them.

Two experiences of this place - both awful. First, booked flu jabs here and arrived to be told that they weren't doing them and had sent me an email to cancel, They hadn't - no email sent. But more importantly the second experience was when we tried to pick up some meds for my 17 year old daughter who had run out. Prescription had been sent to the pharmacist but they wouldn't supply. Went to Tesco in Abingdon with the same prescription and no problem at all. They went out of their way to help - completely unlike this place which was unhelpful and unsympathetic. Will never visit again.

Extraordinarily rude. "Be kind and respectful" says the sign on the counter, obviously doesn't cut both ways. Came in, stood there for 3 or 4 minutes, 6 of them busying around, not even a "be with you in one minute sir". Then I was eventually asked "have you been served?" !! "No" I said "I've been standing here for 5 minutes and not even a hello". At which a woman barked at me "You have not been there for 5 minutes" and I replied "I've been here for at least 3 and no-one has said a word". "I'm busy serving someone on the phone" she literally snapped back. "There's 6 of you" I said "and not a word has been said". I finally got my prescription and left. Frankly, I'd rather queue in Boots for an hour than give any custom to these philistines. Sadly, to post this, I have give at least one star. They deserve a minus amount of stars. So to speak.

When I had my first jab, I was all irritated and stressed because of the terrible parking (don?t use the Charter car park opposite?) but the person that did it was SO lovely and really reassured me and made me comfortable.I?m reading a lot of comments on here from disgruntled people and although no doubt some of them have a point and are relevant, it?s important to remember that the staff have to deal with people all the time telling them the same things over and over again RE the COVID jabs. Perhaps don?t take it to heart so much if they make a mistake as plenty of us do. The pandemic has taken a toll on us all and it might be wise for them to have some retraining in customer service, but don?t think they deserve a 2.7 average rating as it stands.
