I recently visited this Specsavers store after being recommended by a friend who said the service here was excellent. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite, and I left feeling extremely uncomfortable, disrespected, and most concerningly, racially targeted.
While browsing, I was looking at Hugo Boss frames when a staff member who?s name I believe to be Kerry (apologise if the spelling is wrong). The woman was about 5?3, dark brown hair with blonde bits at the front kept repeatedly tried to steer me toward cheaper options, implying I couldn?t afford the ones I had chosen. This was done in a dismissive and patronising tone, and without any genuine engagement. Her attitude towards me was completely different to the way she interacted with other customers, who all happened to be white which makes me feel strongly that this behaviour was racially motivated.
Her general conduct was also highly unprofessional. She was rude and disinterested, to me and particularly towards younger members of staff. She also smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, and at one point left my personal details on the screen when creating an account for me in full view of other customers while she went for what was clearly a cigarette break. I ended up leaving without even purchasing any frames or completing my account because of her behaviour. Quite possibly the worst customer service that I have ever seen.
I came to this store expecting the high standard I had been told about, but instead left feeling insulted and unwelcome. A member of staff displaying this type of behaviour should not be representing a brand like Specsavers. I will not be returning to this branch, and I would appreciate if you can escalate my concerns to Specsavers Head Office for formal investigation or provide me with an email to do so.

Every member of staff that I spoke too was absolutely lovely and extremely helpful. I had help with picking some new glasses. They also made me aware of all the deals currently in store.
Would highly recommend

I have now used this store 4 times in 4 years, this will be my last time!
I have been unhappy every time I have used them however this time was the last straw.
I entered the shop on crutches to two staff members, Luisa and Janet stood at the doors gossiping, neither attempted to help with the door but even worse, neither attempted to greet me, they stood there gossiping about a man being fined for dropping litter outside, entirely ignoring me and the other customer waiting for their attention (this customer left without purchasing glasses).
I ended up giving up waiting for them to greet me (still at the doors and usual greeting desk!) and went further in the store where Ellen quickly came rushing over to book me in, I was close to leaving at this point but as my glasses were broken I needed to get new ones asap.
The wait was quite long to be called in but once I was in the Optician was helpful and friendly.
After my eye test the aforementioned Janet was called in to 'help' with picking my glasses. Janet took me to the area where the glasses are, told me they are 2 for 1 over £70 and promptly left. Luisa, still hanging around was still telling everyone she is now on her third littering fine.
Despite being on crutches (I am quite obviously disabled) and having no glasses and explaining to Janet I couldn't even see what I was looking at no help was offered. When I dropped the frames I was looking at on the floor nobody in the store offered to help pick them up, my husband who I had called to come and help me arrived and picked them up for me.
Once I had picked I was told by Ellen to take a seat and she would call somebody to help me, as I sat down, Luisa shouted me over, knowing that she could've done so before I sat down and then had to struggle to get up again immediately, even saying as much herself but she was still too busy telling everyone about her fines and how it isn't reduced if paid early!
There was no friendliness whatsoever from Luisa, she had no interest whatsoever in any customer service, she didn't even ask me to try the frames on to make sure they were suitable. Other than trying to convince me to get my lenses thinned she didn't really interact except to tell me when my collection date was, I explained my glasses were broken and could she please put a note on to ask if I could be called early if they came in sooner than expected as I only had sunglasses to wear until then, she did add a note that said 'call if come in early', but no explanation that I had no glasses until my new ones arrived.
I did, in fact get my glasses early, the store did not call me but I did check in myself after 4 days and they were ready. Ellen, as on my previous visit was lovely and had them brought down for me. Angela who dispensed them was polite enough however, when I told her my second pair felt loose she told me they look like they fit perfectly and did not alter them, despite the fact I told her they were falling down my face. I have had to bend the arms myself to be able to wear them. I will never return to this store and will be looking at alternatives for my eye test in 12 months. This store does not deserve a penny of your money if the staff are rude, uninterested and do not listen to you.
The only reason I have given 2 stars is because of Ellen and the Optician who were both professional and did all they could but were massively let down by their colleagues.
Avoid.

Very polite staff comfortable waiting area. No pressure to buy what wasn't needed. I would recommend specsavers to everyone. Especially the workshop branch.
