We went for a Teatime meal on a Saturday in October...some of the dishes were off menu due to some kitchen problem on their busiest day of the week...only one person serving behind the bar on a busy Saturday evening...had a steak which was tough and the chip portion size was disappointingly small...that evening they were not up to their usual better standard...

It was very typical of a Weather Spoon's pub. I was taken by a friend who really likes them. Value for money it was excellent but it's not the sort of pub I would use to take the family.
The food was quite good for the price and the beer was fine and much cheaper than other places.
They seemed short staffed and so there were a lot of dishes and empty glasses left lying around for quite a long time.
If you don't mind that it was a great place to go for a meal and some drinks for a catch up with a good friend but didn't have the nicer ambience I would want for a visit with the family.

Long waits for service by app or at the bar. Friend went to the bar and took 15 mins to gets served. I ordered on the app and it took 30 mins for drinks to arrive.

I don't rate Wetherspoon as a standard restaurant, but as an affordable reliable place to have, for UK, decent meal. Cleanliness in The Admiral Sir John Borlase has better standard than average Wetherspoons and it's less crowded and more civilised. Food is the same as elsewhere, but as a quick stop on the way to London it was good enough. AND! I like the canon aiming on the front door! It's really cool ?
