We visited for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic. Our daughter has coeliac disease and they were so knowledgeable and brought her a plate of GF stuffing, gravy & a Yorkshire pudding. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a very special lunch.

Not been here for 25 years.
We went today for sunday cavery from derbyshire area
We were obviously wary about the price per per person of £21.50.
Please dont let the price put you off.
The travel plus the cost was more than worth it.
Beautifull and tasty sunday dinner, with everything else you can think of that other eateries charge extra for included.
Well worth the trip. Well worth the cost.
Did not dissapoint either of us. Booking is needed though.
We got there at 2pm and not many peope were there.
That changed soon after and by the time we left at 3pm they were queuing for dinner almost outside the building.
Highly reccomened place for quality of food and atmosphere

Wow! This Carvery was amazing!
Even though we are Liverpool Fans, the Chef gave us a huge Welcome and a generous amount of meat (I had the Beef and Pork). We moved onto the Vegetables and honestly, I can't think of a single Veg that wasn't present. All of them looked fresh (2pm ish) and replenished regularly as well as being crunchy and piping hot. The table staff were welcoming too - it was worth the drive and, we'll be back.
I have a modest appetite so, don't let the size and selection of my plate put you off - there were Yorkshire's, my bro had 2, and potatoes - you can have as much as you want!

We came from Italy and have noticed this place from home. We waited five days and finally got the chance to go. We bring home one of the best memories we could ever have. We also had an American friend who never tried British food and he adored it. The waiter was incredible and the chef absolutely lovely. The food was amazing, best meat pie I have ever had. If we will have the chance we will definitely come back as we felt at home. Thank You so much for the wonderful experience

Very good carvery and even better service. The carver in particular was one of the friendliest blokes you?ll MEAT?

Seven of us had a two course meal. The chips were nice. The menu needs a rethink; confusing and badly laid out

On our second attempt, several months apart we managed to book a table. Four of us arrived at the appointed time and were duely shown to our designated table. The venue was busy for Sunday 12:30 pm slots but everything proceeded smoothly. The menu was explained and one of us chose to go veggie while others went the carnivorous route. We were served by a portly, easy going and chatty gentleman who managed to extract our life stories without any real effort while placing delicately cut portions of various meats on our plates. Needless to say along with undoubted skills with the knife he seemed well versed in the art of conversation. We were charmed and offered no resistance. As we moved along others took our places and were put under his spell similarly.
The food was good and service smooth despite the dining area being full. There?s a car park available but on busy Sundays parking can be a challenge. Our bill was around £26 per head without alcohol - very reasonable for the quality of the food offred. We?d travelled from Nottingham and I believe it was a worthwhile trip. Especially so if combined with a country walk in the area. Would I return? Yes I think it?s well worth the extra mileage out of town particularly on a lovely summers day.

I visited Rancliffe Arms for a work outing and tried their newest vegetarian burger. Unfortunately, it wasn?t great?the chickpeas weren?t ground up properly, which affected the texture, and the burger itself was far too large to eat comfortably without removing layers. The onion rings also lacked seasoning, which was disappointing.
Another issue is that the website menu isn?t kept up to date, so you often hear, ?we don?t have that item anymore,? which can be frustrating when trying to order.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was cosy. However, the back seating area near the carvery is quite dimly lit, which detracted a bit from the experience.
