A lunch with a friend to celebrate our big birthdays! It was wonderful. The staff were professional and efficient yet relaxed and the food was sublime. The flavours of every course were layered and deep from the cheese croquette and soup, through the crab, mushroom, lamb, duck and seabass dishes to the cheese, biscuits and ice cream. Wow...a surprise with every dish..all superbly presented in a beautiful atmosphere.

We visited Restaurant Sat Bains as a couple for our anniversary, and it truly was a wonderful evening from start to finish. Despite being tucked away on Lenton Lane, the restaurant is beautiful, elegant, and full of charm. Drinks in the garden were delightful, especially on a warm summer?s evening, creating the perfect atmosphere to begin our experience.
The food was exquisite, beautifully cooked, and full of flavour. Every dish showed careful attention to detail, and the service was absolutely superb. The team were all immaculately presented, friendly, and incredibly attentive. Special mention to the maître d?, who was a joy to talk to: knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging.
We particularly loved the greenhouse element of the evening, providing a relaxing change of pace away from the main dining area. The pizzas served there were delicious and added a unique twist to the overall experience. Finishing with ?Junior Bains? in the kitchen was fantastic, and seeing the staff meticulously cleaning down after service provided a fascinating insight into their high standards.
However, while the experience was exceptional, it?s important to note the considerable cost. Compared to other incredible restaurants we?ve visited, such as L?Enclume, Opheem, and A. Wong, all with two or three Michelin stars, Restaurant Sat Bains is substantially more expensive. Spending an extra £300-£400 for a couple, compared to meals of comparable quality (or arguably even better), makes it hard to justify from a purely value-for-money perspective.
Overall, Restaurant Sat Bains offers an outstanding culinary experience with superb food and flawless service in a beautiful setting. Just be mindful of the premium price tag.
