I understand these stores have low standards for animal care but 4 Syrians with no food, no dig space, 1 tiny wheel and no dark space is beyond disgusting. I came in to get some treats for my rescue hamster and left absolutely disgusted by the tiny tiny TINY cages you had FOUR HAMSTERS IN!
The general public is catching onto your treatment of animals, especially small animals and we are not happy.

Just saw 4 Syrian hamsters in a tiny enclosure all together, one attempting to dig with barely enough bedding to even have their feet in it. Two attempting to run on a flying saucer together and one sleeping under it. I know pets at home are usually bad with the care for their animals but this is atrocious! Especially considering they have 5 empty rabbit and ginnie pig hutches they could use for this situation. They also had a large female Syrian hamster with barely enough room to turn around in her vivarin let alone do any actual activities.
I understand the staff probably don't get trained properly but the managers should honestly be ashamed of themselves.

Visit every month to get supplies for the rabbits and my dog always a long wait at the till due to only having one staff member.
However today ( 24/08/25) it was evident why two young girls at the back of the store giggling like school girls in front of customers drinking a pink can of monster while their colleague was getting stressed dealing with multiple customers by herself at the till. Stock levels and overall presentation is always poor, missing or damaged POS, missing tickets, damaged products taped back together, dust on the shelves, broken trolleys overall a shocking experience for the customer, only visit the place due to convenience however will start using a local independent after today?s experience. Ultimately it?s the store and assistant managers fault poor recruitment decisions, lack of commercial acumen and evident poor operational management sack them both

Popped in the other day for food for my dog and heard one of the staff have a conversation with another college in a rather sexual nature. Didn?t get to see his name badge but he was ginger and quite large. This is very inappropriate due to the store having kids inside. Will not be recommending this pets at home.

The store is ok some staff are helpful and polite. How ever today?s member of staff was kind enough to not help me and wouldn?t even let me finish my sentence whilst abruptly talking over me and saying she was busy. Thank you.

Popped in on 20/07/25 and was able to join an animal handling experience. The employee who delivered it was absolutely lovely, great with the kids and very knowledgeable. Well done them!

We came in today for a Syrian hamster for my autistic son.
we were served and shown the hamsters by a Callum he was an absoloute delight and his knowledge and love of pets was amazing. he was very patient with my son and very thorough in health checking our new Hamster.
he went above and beyond showing us all suitable bedding and he asked to see photos of our enclosure to make sure it was suitable for a syrian.
thank you so much Callum you made today run very smooth as my son can sometimes be overwhelmed in new and busy environments.
Pets at home you have an outstanding young man working for you !!

No staff dispenser for meds on... Staff seemed bored by my request of when someone would be next on shift to dispense. Could easily have advised there were dispensers at the Arnold store but they acted like they couldn't even be bothered to look at their customers.

They didn't' have what I wanted (a new pet budgie) so it was a wasted journey. It seems many places no longer sell live birds for purchase. Ended up driving across Nottingham after gf looked online and facebook and found a garden center that had a pet store to purchase one. They only sell rodents and rabbits now. How boring.
