Poor service & rules at Boots travel vaccine centre at Riverside retail park, appointment 4/8/25, 6pm.
Forced to pay £20 for no vaccine even though I said I wanted hepatitis B as it?s expired.
The man I had my appointment with put in my doctors notes I took onto his system for every vaccine I?d ever had, the system told him what I do and don?t need for travelling to South Korea.
As he was doing it, he said I?ve had a lot of vaccines and it was good to be extra precautions.
The system told him I didn?t need hepatitis B, but I said I wanted it because it expired last year & it is a risk in South Korea, just in case I go into hospital and the needles aren?t clean, he said he couldn?t do it because the system said I didn?t need it.
I said I wanted it to be safe because I don?t plan on sharing needles , but if I?m in hospital and there?s a dirty needle , and my doctor had said it was a good idea.
he said wherever you are in the world hospital needles are always clean.
(That?s not true everyone knows that! )
he said I could change my answers on the system to say I?d be sharing needles, so I said okay , then he said I couldn?t change the answers.
He said I can ?sell? you the vaccines the system has recommended but not hepatitis B. (although the system recommended vaccines that was up-to-date and I even pointed that out on the dates it said I needed them wasn?t until 2028 & 2035
He got his calculator out to work out the dates & he said yeah you wouldn?t need them. ( even though a few minutes ago he said I did need them.)
He said I still need to pay £20. I asked why.
he said because you haven?t had a vaccine.
I said I want a vaccine because Hepatitis B expired last year.
he said he can?t give me the vaccine because the system didn?t say i needed it.
I said I don?t want to pay £20 for something I haven?t had.
He said your not paying for something you haven?t had, your paying for my service.
(that was a joke because all he did was rely on the system to tell him what I needed, which also told me I needed vaccines that I didn?t need as they didn?t expired until 2035 & 2028, so would I have gotten poorly if I?d had them too soon!)
I said why should I pay the £20 when I want the vaccine.
he wouldn?t give up, so I said fine il pay but I?m never using Boots vaccine service again.
(I will also make sure I tell my friends & family what happend & not to use it. )
I?ve gone to private clinics before and they was much more knowledgeable.
I drove there yesterday after work which was a waste of time, now I need to find a private clinic that will fit me in out of works time soon so the vaccine gets in my system before I travel on 21st September.

Editing this due to shop having a refit and removing the midnight pharmacy and the accessible hatch this has made this store almost obsolete to me and others.

Riz was very attentive and helpful and went out his way to replace an old £5 note that unfortunately came out of the till. I initiated that he changed and and after going through 3 till, he succeeded in finding me a good £5 note. It really is the little things ???

I came to the pharmacy with an embarrassing issue however when speaking to the pharmacist i believe his name was Dong, he reassured me of the right way to help my problem and was very kind and empathetic. He explained to me the best way and to tell you the truth I took quite a bit of time of his however he didn't rush me and ensured that I was able to get the advice I needed it's now been a couple of weeks and my issue is resolved and i just wanted to say a massive thanks to him because I wouldn't have got the advice I truly needed.

To avoid utilising NHS services we are encouraged to use the Pharmacy service?. Today I was made to feel like an inconvenience-I felt not listened to or reassured in any way. As a health professional I hope I never make my patients feel the way I was made to feel today. And as for using pharmacy services again?.

If I could put 0 star I would. The pharmacy is absolutely shockingly horrific. I?ve gone for 3 vaccines each time had to wait 30 minutes to an hour. One time I came and they said the pharmacist hasn?t come so I?ll have to come back another day, so wasted my time on 4 occasions. They then tried to charge me triple the price of a vaccine and it was only once I corrected them they rectified their mistake. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Talk about scrapping the bottom of the barrel not just in team members but dread to think what the store manager must be if they think that the pharmacy there is good. Needs better management for sure.

Good large boots store with pharmacy and all the usual toiletries etc. Also some electrical items, and clothes and baby items. There's a fridge with drinks, sandwiches, crisps etc. Huge car park. The pharmacy staff are helpful and polite.

I was frustrated that the timings weren?t adjusted online or at the store for bank holiday I came at 4 and was advised that they were closed rudely and abruptly instead of 4.30. I have worked retail and I understand when you are off the clock but there is no need to be rude and shout we shut at 4 at a customer with nothing else, I was a little dumbfounded as I usually have found the staff to be lovely?.

Boots pharmacy advised me to drink honey and lemon for a cough even though I stated twice of being fructose intolerant. Absolutely shocking

Pharmacy attitude is awful, we were made to think were at fault as they couldn't find a prescription, but they weren't looking in the right place. No apology.

Got served at the till by Joy yesterday at the store. Was extremely hospitable and well-behaved. Helped me to pack my bags at the till while paying in cash, and he was quick to collect my parcel. Gonna visit the store again.
