Nice spoons, plenty of seating, short wait at the bar, decent cheap food if you get hungry. One of the go to pubs if on a night out, or meeting place for a few.Unfortunately they shut this branch on the Sunday after my last visit. Newark now has no Spoon's! That's pan crack day ruined for many!

Used this Wetherspoons whenever I visit Newark-on-Trent. Obviously, my business was not enough as it has now closed. Sad, as I've always considered this one of the better pubs. Always good beer, particularly variety, good food with friendly staff providing good service. I think Tim Martin must make his decisions purely on a profit and loss sheet. He owns some absolute hovels, Newark-on-Trent was NOT one of them. Shame!!

Excellent mixed grill Tuesday and had the curry Thursday which did the job perfectly. Just one point for the Wetherspoons family as someone who is lactose intolerant. Maybe at least a choice of one vegan dessert should be made available?? ????

Nice clean pub. Placed order via app, 1 of the drinks was wrong, but swiftly corrected. Food looked and tasted fresh ?Will revisit, whilst still open ?

This was a fantastic pub to go drinking at, with a stylish, vintage design! The staff were friendly, counter is well-presented and the disabled toilet is easily accessible while clean. Offer of 2 cocktail pitchers for £12 was a true bargain, the seating is comfortable and tables large!

Wow, excellent curry and beers with a couple of Business colleagues. Then went on to another bar, realised I'd left my wallet at hotel so could not get a round in! Got back to hotel... no wallet!!! Rang Spoons.. Kirsty had found it!! YES!! Must have fell out my pocket!? THANKS KIRSTY SO MUCH!! ? First time this has happened to me and all ends well....Thanks soooò much Kirsty!!!Steve

Great value as always. Pleasant spot outside, although it would be good to be able to sit away from the smoking at one end or the other. Great to watch the world go by.

Cracking food, amazing staff - held back by the dated appearance. I have to say, I am a massive fan of Wetherspoons. I frequent them often, no matter where they are. The Sir John Arderne is an example of spoons done right, with the staff being polite and friendly along with the food being tasty and cheap. However, what this spoons lacks is a little bit of TLC. Maybe with a new paint job and some clean carpets, this spoons will be worthy a 5 stars!

Well the food was great , but not impressed with table 11 topic of conversation, also most people hearing everything that was being said, swearing etc. Not good at all.Few children in to be honest, which I think was not great. They was very loud ?? let the pub down tremendously with what they was saying etc , which I will not put down.

Good cold beer and fruity sweet cider. Tuesday. So I tried steak from Tuesday Club. Always I used to order medium but this time decided for well done steak. Honestly too much fried for me. I appreciate cooks work but my decision wasn't good. Next time will choose medium. Professional staff

We called in last Saturday for a quick lunch, the place was packed but we were hungry and as a table had just come free so we decided to order. Within a few minutes our drinks were brought over, 10 mins later the food arrived piping hot and tasty, glad we stayed!

Travelled here on 23/02 from Wigan to add this spoons to my collection as it was a pleasant day making it my 301st I have visited.Just had a few beers I had not tried before & wasn't disappointed. Members of staff very helpful and polite with excellent service and the tables were cleared and cleaned regularly. Will definitely visit again as a visit to the castle is on the agenda.

Called in for lunch, everyone around us was eating fish & chips so had to have the same as they all looked yummy, it was yummy too, busy pub as usual , just had to queue for the coffee machine as only one was working. Would recommend.
