We needed a new double bed, mattress and headboard. We chose what we wanted, which was a bed base, a specific mattress (we were insistent we didn't want one with buttons on - we received one) We showed the assistant which base, mattress and headboard that we had decided on, and he wrote it all on an invoice, but counted the base and mattress as one (in hindsight we should have asked him to itemise the 2 items singly), he wrote the type of headboard we wanted , and then the boss came and persuaded us to buy a zip around mattress cover that keeps the mattress cool and dry. We added one into the order too. We also paid for our old bed to be taken away too. We paid in full and said a delivery after Christmas was fine and they would ring us once it was delivered to store. Christmas came and went and mid-January we rang them and they said they had tried to deliver to their shop over Christmas when they were closed, but would chase it up now. After a couple of weeks we rang again as we hadn't heard anything. They said they would chase it up, but they had that morning a reminder to do this. We told them that if we didn't receive the bed very soon we would come in and get our money back and they could cancel the offer (as I have now to have an operation) . Hey presto, in a couple of days we had a delivery date. It was only as I was about to put all of the bedding together, I found the mattress was buttoned and the protector was just a stretch fit not a zip around (to cover the whole mattress). I did ring and ask about the mattress protector and they said they don't stock a zip around one! It was at this point that I gave up saying anything else, as they clearly weren't interested in anything else I might have said. We've just been talking about this and agreed, that it is very sad that the service has been so bad. we used to live in Newark and thought we were doing a good thing by supporting a small 'family' firm. Won't bother with them again.

Love to support local shops if I can. We always get our beds from Carter gate Bed Centre. The prices are reasonable, the beds are good quality and the assistants are helpful. Would highly recommend.x

I like to support local business and Carter gate beds has an excellent selection of mattresses and beds. All at very competitive rates even compared to the big companies. The assistant who helped us, although a trainee was very good and patient. Mattress protectors are a little expensive and we were told that you need one to maintain your mattresses warranty. We got into a bit of debate with a fellow assistant, which put us on the verge of cancelling our order, which was alot of money. However we persisted as delivery was free and we paid for disposal of our old mattress. Bought a protector else where. Delivery team where excellent, very helpful and cheerful, nothing was too much trouble. We have had a few items from here in the past, quality is excellent.

Very, very good, staff was no trouble. No one to push you, but was very helpful at the end. Just waiting for the bed to deliver not Ians or Lacks fault, with this lock down will be coming very soon from factory.
