Not the nicest of welcome,dirty tables. Staff unfriendly to one an other and the cakes wasn't nice but must say the coffee was.
Needles to say I won't be returning which is a shame as it only seemed like one member of staff who was the culprit and the body language to other customers was the same.

A lovely little independent coffee shop/cafe.This place us popular it's always busy.It has quite a lot of seating in its small venue. Most is on the ground floor with a small bit up a step at the back.Food is nice and plentiful but wouldn't say wow. Coffee is always very good, much better than the big chain coffee shops.Staff are friendly and helpful.Breakfasts are popular.It is a beautiful old listed building, lots of character, a very nice little place.Vegetarian options: The veggie breakfast is good.Cakes are generally good.There are veggie options for lunch, sandwiches, panini, etc.Parking: There is limited parking. Disabled parking on the street, but it is a limited space and most often busy. The nearest car park is Morrisons upstairs outdoor car park, free for 2 hours and you can walk to the coffee shop from here 5mins.Wheelchair accessibility: This cafe has a fairly slim small doorway which also has a step up. It is tight for wheelchairs and limited space to move around once inside. It should be possible to get in eith a small chair and some helpful people.The door cannot be widened/changed as it is an old listed building.

Our first visit to Newark, while walking around we came across Barnforth & Co Newark.Called in for a coffee which was very good...£7Decided to stop for lunch.My Wife had Scampi,chips and Peas...I ordered small breakfast..1 egg,,1 Sausage,, 1 rasher of Bacon,,Fried Mushrooms,,,Baked Beans,, 1 Hash Brown, Fried Tomato and Toasted Granarie bread,,plus a Cup of Tea.Both meals were great and filling..£20.20.Excellent menuHad a variety of Teas and Coffees and confectionaryVery friendly service and lovely seating area.Toilet facilities available.Excellent Cafe,,would recommend this

Me and my partner came for a late breakfast at midday on Saturday , when ordering our food and drinks the staff behind the till were not very polite and we were told we weren?t aloud any drink that had milk in it as they only had 3 milk cartons left but they then served multiple other people coffees and drinks containing milk. When bringing us two bottled orange juices and some water the waiter didn?t say a word or smile when we were trying to be friendly, smiling at her and saying thanks. After observing her attitude with other customers she was friendly towards them and smiling while serving their drinks and was only cold towards us. My partner and I are both women and as much as I hate to think this I do somewhat feel as though it was some resentment towards us due to who we choose to date and that didn?t sit right with me and didn?t make us feel very comfortable or welcomed. Although the service from the till staff was a bit of a let down, the food on the other hand was great! And the kitchen staff were lovely as well as being very quick to bring our food out to us with smiles and politeness. Real shame the till staff weren?t as good as the food!
