We stopped off half way through a long journey and were surprised to find the restaurant virtually empty.
We received an extremely friendly and efficient welcome.
The food was local, home made and delicious... the best pies we have had in a long while.
This pub deserves to be much more busy.

Lovely venue. Good ale and we had lovely company. The food was generally good but one of our party was very disappointed with her Caesar salad. I think she thought it was lacking in chicken. It was a picture seeing our 5 year old attempt to eat the ploughman's lunch. She did really well. There was enough to feed the ploughman and his wife.
Definitely worth a visit.

We come here quite frequently, the food is always delicious especially the pie. Staff very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.

Treated ourselves to Sunday lunch out today and chose our local, even though I?ve lived in the area many years we normally just cook on a Sunday. All three of us really enjoyed our lunch, we all chose the lamb which was perfect, everything was cooked to perfection. Such a gem to have on our doorstep!

We were lucky to have been taken there by friends as I don't think we would have found it otherwise - and what a loss that would have been! The people are very friendly and helpful and the food OMG, the food is exquisite. I had the rack of lamb, which was beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection, nicely accompanied by some celeriac. The venue is quite small and with a distinctly traditional vibe.

Very overpriced Sunday lunch. Meat portion very mean. Pay extra for veg, roast potatoes skin very hard not crispy as if they're heated up. Complained to waitress but she just smiled. Paid £28.50 for average Sunday lunch, it wasn't worth half the price
