Had a wonderful experience here on Sunday, February 2nd. The Sunday roast was truly excellent ? cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, creating a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. We can't wait to return! Definitely recommend it for a relaxing Sunday meal.

I have visited this pub several times since the new owners took over and I have to say I am super impressed. Not only have they kept the place as it was regarding the decor and community feel, they have made it even better.
The food is very good and the staff are fantastic and the beer is the best I?ve known it to be, far better than what spoons offered.
If this pub had been taken over by 1 of big pub companies, they would have ripped the soul out of it. Thankfully that has not happened.
I wish them every success and I will continue to support them with my custom.

It was not as good as it was when it was wetherspoons, there isn't the same selection of ales like before. There is a pool table now though but i heard the people on it saying it only takes notes. If that is the case its ridiculous, ive seen ones with card readers but notes only is taking the micky

Service wasn't great, one staff member was lovely the other had a bad attitude and spoke to people, even the other staff member, like dirt. The food was worse. The wraps were so stale they were like cardboard and completely inedible. Had 3 bites and left the rest. The scrambled eggs were overcooked in the microwave so were like microwaved rubber. Again they were inedible. Would not return or recommend.

the food wasn't good in fact that bad I didn't eat it and got a refund.
the menu is not at all healthy no salads or anything else that Weatherspoons used to sell.
not many people in there at lunchtime.
I guess if this continues it won't be open this time next year

First time back since changing hands
Wasn't expecting much but pleasantly surprised
Beer competitively priced and very clean compared to when it was a spoons
Visited on a Sunday lunchtime and was fairly quiet compared to before
Can't comment on food but will be trying in the near future

Really surprised at how nice the food tastes for such a great price! Super hot and served quickly too. Great breakfast.

We decided to have a meal here on Thursday afternoon. Staff were all lovely. The food was really nice. The reason I dropped a star was based around the size of my gammon steak. I thought with it being more expensive than the 8 oz sirloin I would get a decent chunk but I thought it was forgotten about on my plate, but found it hidden under an egg. A egg !!! Imagine how small it was ! Not sure if it should have been 2 pieces or you had run low ? The gammon was tasty though so not complaining about that
We will visit again but I doubt I?ll pick the gammon.

First trip here since it?s changed, didn?t realise it was no longer a Wetherspoon's 2 adults and 4 kids, when I say the food was vile it was vileee. We all ordered different things and each one was disgusting but i think the winner was the cheese burger. Never know a burger to be chewy but this was like eating cardboard, dry doesn?t cut it! and the chips was as if they had been fried then warmed multiple times, very stale. Couple of hours being back at home and all of us feel queasy! Most definitely won?t be returning.

It is a real shame but following the recent sale of the wetherspoons and take over of the new owners this place has gone down hill. The service is slow, food is very over priced for what you get and barely anything on the menue is available when you want to order it. Such a shame as this place used to be the place to go in kirkby

We have been to The regent twice since it has changed owners, the second visit was to give them another chance, we definitely will not be going again. The first visit we had 3 Sunday dinners that took a while to get to the table and all of them were cold. The second visit we had a breakfast, this also took a while to get to the table and when it did it looked awful and didn't taste any better.

First visit since taken over. There was 4 of us and only 1 person was happy with their meal. Chilli was bland and only just tepid, enjoyed the tortilla chips but would have liked more than 3. Rice was solid and took some breaking up.
Did get a refund on 1 of the meals as it wasn't very appetising which was appreciated. Think they could do with a taste tester and thermometer especially as the meals are made to order?!@#

Visited 15.07.24 so no longer a Spoons then...food took 40 minutes to come out and then 2 out of 3 meals were cold... Gravy congealed...kids drinks served in tiny, dirty plastic cups. Doubt I'll be back. Only positive is that staff were friendly?
