We stayed on the campsite behind the Royal oak.
The atmosphere in the pub was very good and we were surprised to see it so busy during a weekday evening.
We did not eat here but the food looked fantastic with lots of options.
The staff were friendly and welcoming.
We will definitely be returning before too long.
Parking: The paking we had was for the night , we chose to have electric for our Motorhome, we were not disappointed with our stay.
We will definitely return before too long.

Fabulous country pub in a beautiful setting. Just off the A46 between Newark and Nottingham but it feels like being in the New Forest as the pub is set on a large village green, often with grazing cattle.
Really first rate service by a lovely family team who make everyone very welcome. There is a restaurant area and a more casual bar area, both serving beautiful, home-cooked food.
Both restaurant and bar have open fires, and dogs are welcome in the bar. There is always a happy, friendly atmosphere.
Extensive menu with a great variety of meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan foods. I nearly always have the smoked salmon and prawn salad which is utterly delicious and very generously portioned. The fish and chips are also excellent (and I'm very fussy about crispy batter!)
Booking is strongly advisable, as this pub deservedly has a very loyal clientele.
Lovely on a summer's evening for drinks at the tables set out on the green. A favourite spot for families with dogs, and vintage car enthusiasts, to gather.

Can be very busy in evenings . Best to book to avoid disappointment. Camping site has electric pitches and is level. Can be a bit muddy around the exit . No toilet block . Need to book in by phone .

Wonderful friendly British country pub, serving great beer and sensational food.
Staff and clientele help put the icing on the cake, creating a warm atmosphere.
Set in a picturesque village setting, what's not to love.
