WILL NOT BE RETURNING I?M AFRAID
I ordered some take out cream scones today only to get them home to find a big soggy mess in the boxes. The scones had been warmed, which we had asked for but the jam and cream had been spread onto the warm scone, then sandwiched back together again and put into a take out box, which resulted in the big soggy mess! Thinking this was a genuine mistake and a regular customer for nearly 5 years I took the scones back expecting to receive new ones only to be told all they could do would be to scrape off the soggy mess and put new jam and cream on and under no circumstances would I receive new scones as that would be a waste. Apparently it was my fault for asking for warm scones and I should have ate them quicker. We have had take out scones from here with no issues numerous times before and we ordered as usual. Normally the scones are warmed and the jam and cream are in pots separate which normally works great for us.
I am saddened that our repeat custom was not met with a nicer response to this issue and I feel completely unappreciated as a costumer. It was a low blow to be told replacing the scones would be a waste.
Problems and misunderstandings happen I understand that, but it?s how you deal with them that counts and the way this was handled today has lost the coffee tree two regulars. Sad to say but I felt this needed voiced.

On our way to the ferry in Newcastle we stopped at this incredible coffee shop. The soup of the day (tomato) was delicious, while my wife enjoyed her tosti. What helps off course is the friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Fantastic little cafe - popped in for a breakfast sandwich. Very busy, even early in the day, but they offered for me to take a seat outside, and they'd bring my food out to me. Lovely atmosphere and great for any travellers, walkers, and/or bikers wanting a pit stop ??

This place was wonderful. I am from Seattle and always search out a coffee shop to start my day. This was on our way to Scotland, so we stopped by for a cup.Really good cup, and if I didn't just eat breakfast. I would've gotten a pastry. Very yummy looking.Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Walked into the cafe today and I can honestly say I have never felt so unwelcome in coffee shop. I had a walking stick and a backpack I had just been for a walk to try to keep my arthritis under control and hoped for a nice cup of coffee and a rest, I sat down at a small table waiting to be served a member of staff came and cleared a vacated table next to me .. completed ignored me then went back to the counter 3 minutes later I still hadn't even been acknowledged let alone served... feeling completely unwelcome and out of place I got up collected my things and walked out feeling awful

Today was our first visit after walking along the riverside with our dog. Staff were very friendly and sorted us a table really quickly. My chicken cesear salad was so fresh and tasty and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his bacon sarnie. What a fabulous little coffee shop, thank you for making us so welcome on an awful wet miserable day!
