I have always loved this place. Many a winters night in front of the open fire drinking excellent ale.
The picture I took last week sums the place up perfectly.

We stayed one night I can't fault the room bathroom and kitchen it was beautiful but we were let down by the loud music shouting screaming and singing top of there voices directly under our room window until 3am was our sons wedding next day and we were exhausted there was no consideration whatsoever to paying guests trying to sleep thru this noise it was a shame because we loved everything else the staff were friendly and helpful. Mrs Blackburn stayed 1st August 2025.

Nice place for a cold pint after a walk along the river

Stayed for 1 night. I had the en-suite room. Staff very friendly. Nice beer at reasonable prices. I paid £99 for the night. Now the bad parts. I had to park my car quite away from the boathouse because there is no parking facilities. I noticed theirs no ramps for wheelchair access . There?s a kitchen next to the bedrooms where you can have Kellogg variety pack cereal or pastries or white bread to make your own toast in the morning. The bread was going stale with blue bits on it. No full English breakfast which I was disappointed with. Music from the bar went on till after midnight. My room was at the front and people were very loud talking until 2am . So not much sleep. I decided to leave for home at 05.30 in the morning . So if I was in the area again I would look for other places that give you a cooked breakfast. But like I said before the staff were friendly and the beer was nice and reasonably priced. If you?re paying £99 for 1night every hotel or BnB I?ve stayed at gives you a cooked breakfast. 1of my worst overnight stays. Glad to be back home

Great pubs for good beers. Loads of proper beer on tap that changes so every time is an experience. Food was good to keep you warm before/after a great walk along the river. Absolutely recommend here.

This was a quick stop on a rainy wet day that went in for a warm drink. Drinks were excellent hot chocolate and a latte, and then two toasties, which I have to say had the best amount of oozy cheese. A warm, open, fire friendly member of staff and no who are they stranger looks. It is so warm, inviting, pleasant, and will visit again. Staff member was friendly polite too. Location was fine except no real footpath more or less straight out onto a road.

I agree with Jon 'Buzz' Ford. Lovely little beer garden 'with heaters' for a few nice pints mid bike ride.

One of my local pubs, I've always loved this place. Great staff and locals, nice traditional pub, absolutely stonking collection of beer at a very reasonable price. I wouldn't necessarily go here for food, but they do sell basic pub grub. Top marks from me.
