Quiet but nice garden, and very dog friendly

We visited for dinner on a Monday evening as there were a few other places open in Wooler or nearby villages. Initial impressions were that the bar area was a little rundown and in need of some TLC. Nonetheless, we decided to eat there and were most impressed with the service and especially the food. I enjoyed one of the best steak pies. I?ve had anywhere and my partner was very pleased with the fish and chips. In summary, then, excellent food and service, just lacking a little ambience.

The location is superb. A quiet little town with hills on the west side and 3 interesting places on the east side: Holy Island, Farne Islands (puffins!) and Bamburgh castle. It is 20 minutes drive to Scotland, a little town called Coldstream with a nice view of the valley and the bridge.
The hotel itself is old. Still using an actual key to open the room door. There's TV and tea/coffee in every room. The temperature of the shower was nearly impossible to set to medium. It's always either to hot or too cold. So we had to take a bath (not shower), where we could mix the hot and cold water. But the room was big, plenty of space. Nice bed too. Hence the 4 star for the room.
The breakfast room was nice. Old but nice, like an old English country house. The reception too, old but nice. Plenty of car park and a nice beer garden at the back.
The service was very good. Especially during breakfast. They were short staffed but the staff tried their very best to serve everybody well. It's full English breakfast, which was delicious.

An absolutely lovely place.
The staff are, like WOW! I don't think I've ever met such lovely awesome people in a Hotel, they were the most helpful, accommodating who go well above and beyond, Samantha even went well above and even further beyond. My granddaughters (2) birthday was the next day , so Samantha went to the local shop and bought them an Easter egg each and some chocolates, they were over the moon and so we're myself and my family. Just a few picky points, The showers in the rooms need serious attention, because of very poor water flow. Although the hotel is in keeping with it's tradition with its building, it needs tweaking to bring it into the 21st century, by installing USB ports in the hotel and rooms, although the food is excellent, the menu could do with expanding by adding more choices, and it would have been great to see black pudding and mushrooms on the breakfast menu. The Bar also needs a bigger choice of drinks. Apart from them, the Hotel itself is extremely clean and pleasant. 100% Definitely recommend a place to stay. So! To sum up.
Staff.. absolutely awesome, friendly and extremely helpful.
The Hotel, Great, pleasant and very clean.
Prices... Fair, inline with other Hotels, no complaints.
Food . Cooked to perfection.
The hotel is in a very quiet and quaint little town.
TIP..if you want to eat out, book early..only 4/5 places to eat in, and they get extremely busy.

Called here on way back from North Berwick back to Sheffield. Great customer service, left my phone plug at home and they leant me one and in morning I asked for fried bread and they duly obliged and wanted to watch Sky Sports and they found a pub in the town centre

A missed little gem in Wooler. The food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and accommodating and the roaring fire made it beautifully cosy on a stormy evening. Well worth going.

We came, we went. No food available, no real ales contrary to web advertising. Made to feel very unwelcome. Seven of us hastily upped & went elsewhere. Not really a place for non-residents.

We had dinner for Fish and Chips night, and it was great! The food was good, and the prices were reasonable. The only issue was with booking?no one answered when I called twice at different times, and my email went unanswered as well. Thankfully, I got a response through Facebook Messenger. Luckily, when we arrived, it wasn?t crowded, and we were able to get a table.

Went for a meal the food was good and the service was good, however we had to go to the bar for drinks which I thought was odd, they were short staffed so maybe that's why. Dog friendly restaurant a plus.
