Visited Sunday lunchtime. We went in 'on spec', the gent behind the bar saw we were perusing the menus and nipped upstairs, returning soon after and said we could have a table upstairs if we were finished by 1.30pm. Good practise! We were sat in a room with nicely set out tables and a very friendly welcome from the staff. We wanted the carvery which was looking very appetising. You have a choice of large, medium or small, a great idea, I hate leaving food because I am too full to finish. We waited a very short time before we were guided to the wonderful carvery. The meats (beef, ham and turkey) were all looking moist and succulent. Between us we had all three meats and tasted as good as they looked. The vegetables and roasts were nicely cooked and delicious. we chose 'medium' but still had a plateful of meat. Lovely homemade gravy to accompany. No frozen boil in the bag food here!! Throughout the meal the staff were constantly attentive and engaging with the customers, it appears there a lot of regulars here, no surprise. The value for money was amazing. We will visit again.

Stopped off in Warkworth for a comfort break and call into the Inn for a cup of tea and stayed for soup and sandwiches. Warm and friendly welcome, very clean toilets and a comfortable environment. The vegetable and lentil soup was homemade and vegetarian friendly. The sandwich made to order with fresh bread. A lovely find to add to our list.

Food was average I would say but reasonably priced. Ordered food quickly but it seemed to take an age for the meals to come out unfortunately , kids were getting very restless with the wait. It seemed they may of been under staffed as the barman seemed to be doing everything

I have just spend a few days in the Amble/Warkworth area and visited various places for food and drink, and The Hermitage was by far the best! Not only was the food amazing, it was great value for money! And... if you like a pint, they have a good selection of real ales and Ipa's. The new management have really got this place going - I look forward to returning one day soon!

My visit was very nice and the food was basic but done very well and the service was great so I give a rating of 4stars only four because of a long wait for food

First visit here but will be back and would recommend to others. Called in without booking but told no problem and shown upstairs to pleasant room. It was a Sunday so offered carvery or small basic menu. My partner and I opted for carvery, medium for me and large for him - actually the small plate would have been ample for me. I had the gammon and pork with Yorkshire, roast potatoes, mash and five other veg, stuffing balls l, crackling and a lovely jug of gravy each put on out table. My partner had the beef(2 slices) and pork but could have had 1 slice of all 3. All meats just melted in the mouth and veg was nicely cooked. Heard that it has recently had new owner and she is certainly going the right way to having a great business. Good luck, keep it up.

What a welcoming pub with incrediblly good food. We arrived on a rainy lunch time ready for a warm and some good food. We definitely got both of those, we also got a very friendly service, immediate attention, 15 min cooking time for three delicious and really well presented food, (my youngest Son who was with us is a chef). We were all very impressed, made to feel very welcome and the price was very reasonable and the portion sizes incredible. They also serve the biggest pots of tea I have ever seen which kept my wife and myself going throughout the meal. I am glad the Masons was full or we wouldn't have experienced this hidden gem ( it is literally opposite the Masons) that we happily discovered by accident. Thanks to all the staff for a perfect and very friendly experience ? 5*

Called in at the pub after checking into our holiday rental. we were in for a drink with our dog and asked for a menu. Food was excellent and plentiful. Was well frequented by locals on their way home from work, nice atmosphere, friendly staff

We came here because Masons was full, and were pleased to find several tables available. The beer was good and the barmaid was very friendly and helpful, however she was on her own and struggling to keep up with orders, this wasn't helped by the fact there were no full size wine bottles and she had to go to the cellar for the one type of red they had in stock. The meals were ok as regards quality but the steak had cooled off while waiting. The meals are very reasonably priced and would be ok if you were just having beer or single-serving wine with it, but the menu offered is almost identical to Masons so you wouldn't expect the Hermitage to be so quiet when their competitor was absolutely rammed. We were here as tourists, and wouldn't visit this pub again.

Food was great and the waiting time was good as well. Would recommend on going if you looking for so light lunch and tasty meals. The service was was also good and staff are really friendly!

This bar has recently changed managers and chef so it is still finding its feet the brewery who owns it are imposing a lot of unnecessary and strange changes. We have been here for the Sunday Carvery twice recently and one evening meal and have not been disappointed. They have three sizes of meals, Small (£6.95), Medium (£10.95) and Large (£12.95) and is probably the cheapest in the area. 3 choices of meat and the veg is not overcooked mush. The steak pie in the evening was very tasty and the meat was very tender. I agree that the service could do with improving a little but the staff are friendly and attentive if a little bit rough around the edges. Hopefully things will smooth out soon. A good offering of well kept beers with 4 real ales on tap is also a plus but again the brewery is interfering so the range may change. Ignore the negative reviews and give this place a try.

We ate here on the first night of our holiday in Walkworth. First and last time. The menu has a small selection of uninspiring ?take out of box, put in microwave/fryer? meals. We tried the Hermi Burger and fish cakes. The burger was very meaty, but tasted odd. The fish cakes were deep fried, tasteless and lacking in fish. The chips were nice. The atmosphere was not especially welcoming. A mediocre experience.
