My experience at the Co-op in Sea houses has always been pretty good, except today. A mature-aged man working at the register left me wondering if I was welcome at all.If I am confused or missing something, please let me know. This man asked me what kind of bag I wanted to use and I told him I needed a heavy duty one since I was walking back to Beadnall. He seemed to notice my American accent and quickly told me when I was done with my bag, I could "camp in it." I tried to see this as a lighthearted statement and just moved on.I asked nicely for the smallest bottle of Gin on the shelf. He got the bottle and said, "Over here, we call it a 'half' because it is half the size of the larger full-size bottle." I thought this was a little over-bearing but also thought he may have just been trying to 'help'. I said "thank you" and continued bagging my things. Then, I went to pay with my card and had to sign a receipt for him. He seemed nice-enough by apologizing for having me sign, (which he honestly didn't have to)... I sign my name all the time. Anyhow, he begins talking to the woman next to us that also works there and says, "Usually people don't sign the back of thier bank cards from America.. and they get away with it." Then he asks me, "You must get away with that in America?"I could tell by his tone that he was most likely doing something we call in America "throwing shade."I was honestly just tired and ready to leave since he gave me no indication or tone of kindness. I let out a long sort of sigh and replied "Well, we seem to get away with a lot in America." My tone was one of exhaustion mind you... not of arrogance or meanness. He snapped back at me loudly in front of the costumers and said, "Let's not go there!" He sounded angry.I then said ,"Thank you, Sir" and left.Is there something I did to make this situation escalate into him raising his voice? I honestly have no idea what I did and felt like I was really giving him a lot of benefit of the doubt for how he spoke to me.Again, I really like the co-op and don't want to have to ask my fiance to go for me when we need groceries. I felt really humiliated by how he spoke to me in front of the costumers. We love it here and would hate to think that someone would estrange us from the community simply because I am American. It honestly breaks my heart to feel this way so I hope someone can clear this up for me.

A great coop in a useful location. This is the closest decent grocery shop to Bamburgh.

A great shop for the essential items

Fine little grocery store with all the basics. Very busy, the line for the registers gets pretty crazy. Prices seemed OK, would go again if in the area and needed to stock up.

Great range and friendly staff.

The true meaning of exploitation. The only shop within miles of anything else in a tourist trap . So co-op hike the prices up sky high . Shame on you co-op ripping people off

Amazing vegetarian selections, especially in frozen foods. Better than my local Co-op in London.

Staff aren't as helpful as they could be. Self service tills. Waited 15 minutes for a staff member to authorise alcohol sale even though she had no customers to deal with in that time.

What a lovely community shop. Free Halloween pumpkin hunt for the kids with lovely prizes and the staff have been fantastic everytime we've popped in on our holiday. Thank you all

If I could give a 0 I would! Poor customer service and bad attitude towards customers. My little sister (8) accidentally dropped a jar of pasta sauce and the rude staff lady acted as if it was the end of the world! Did not even ask if my sister was okay after cutting her hand in pure shock and embarrassment. Absolutely appalling. Not as if she dropped the jar on the floor on purpose.
