Whilst the inn, including rooms look tired & in need of decorating, the friendliness, helpfulness & excellent service of all the staff we had contact with, along with the superb food (both at breakfast & in the evening (the menu is full of so many tempting choices ) & fabulous location (great walking/hiking country with some lovely scenic routes with panoramic & spectacular views starting directly from the inn) more than made up for this. Our room was clean & comfy, & had everything we needed. The view from our room window across to Simonside was beautiful! The tired appearance may actually contribute to the warm, relaxing feel this dog friendly inn has. The cost for our 3 night stay represented excellent value for money. Do we recommend it to others? Absolutely. Will we return? A definite YES! Thank you for making it such an enjoyable stay!

Just had a fantastic roast dinner with beautiful gravy exactly how a roast dinner should be. The service was fast and efficient even though there was a party for a 90th birthday with 6 tables to serve...desserts were absolutely fantastic have already booked my table for next week...thank to kayley and Nathan brilliant service

It's an old building but has been well adapted, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive (with the exception of the guy wearing armour - joke- see photos), and the food extremely good and plentiful, especially considering the huge menu. The views are probably best appreciated in good weather, which gives us an excuse to return.

We went for Sunday dinner last week we have been many times now always amazing and the servers and the bloke behind the carvery are so lovely.
The Ham is the best Ham I've ever tasted and I would highly recommend it!!!.

We eat here every time we're in Thropton....fabulous food and lovely friendly staff, very good value for money....steak was fantastic! ? Have not stayed in the rooms so cannot comment.

The best pub garden in Northumberland! Food is fantastic with lots of choice, including veg options. Dog friendly outside and in the pub area. Staff are friendly and efficient.

We didn?t stay in the rooms but ate in the restaurant 3 times during our weeks stay. It was that good!
The menu is extensive and such a choice that I did wonder if the food would be preprepared but all the meals, starters and mains were fresh and delicious and obviously cooked to order. The portions sizes were good bordering on large which we like. We didn?t have room for dessert!
The service was good too. Oh and the view from the garden, lovely.
Would definitely recommend.
