Lovely walk, steep in some places. Made me puff! Must get fitter! Spectacular views. One tip spray with insect repellant, loads of flies buzzing round face.

Joined the Coquetdale Challenge walk on Saturday, which was wet but didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the walkers or the Shepherds Walk staff and volunteers. Very well organised and signposted/waymarked. Refreshments, sweeties and fruit at check points?. Fantastic quality T Shirt in goody bag, more food and refreshments at the end. If you looking for a walking company who look after their customers look no further ????

Thoroughly enjoyed the Coastal Challenge walk this year, organisation was excellent as always with a friendly and enthusiastic team providing both moral support and sustenance!Walking alone meant I got to chat with other walkers and meet some lovely people who helped the day, and the miles, fly by.

We had a great walk found St Oswald's Way with Shepherd's Walks. They organised everything very efficiently, including finding dog friendly places to stay, since we took our four legged friend with us. Just tell them exactly what you want to do and let them do the rest.

We wanted to celebrate my retirement with some time away in the countryside and decided on a pilgrimage walk from Melrose Abbey to Lindisfarne Priory - St Cuthberts Way. We looked at a number of companies but the one that best met all our needs was Shepherds Walks and they provided lots of valuable information and organised everything ensuring a range of different but excellent accommodations and an extra night on Holy Island. Both the walk and the company are highly recommended.

I have just returned from a wonderful week walking the 84 miles of Hadrian?s Wall. It was tough but all eight of us in the party made it from Bowness-on-Solway to Segedunum. Our guide, Patrick Norris, was not only knowledgeable about everything Roman but also identifying butterflies and plants along the way. After a long day?s walk it was lovely to be greeted by our hosts in very comfortable guesthouses along the way. After a hearty breakfast we were ready for the next day?s challenge.Don?t be fooled. You need to be fit and able to walk 15 miles on consecutive days and have good boots. Age is no barrier. I am 77.

Thanks Shepherds Walks holidays and Patrick (Footsteps in Northumberland) our guide for a very enjoyable week walking Hadrian's Wall in Sept 2021. We were blessed with perfect walking weather (cool, dry), great food (including gluten-free) and accommodation, and excellent company. Along with Vindolanda, we visited some lesser-known places and learned all sorts of interesting stuff about the Romans, the people they interacted with and the artefacts they left behind. Patrick guided us expertly and professionally, encouraging us and sharing his eclectic knowledge of local flora and fauna. The overall pace was about right but did not allow time for lengthy photo-taking or to visit Housesteads or to spend enough time at Segedunum - they must wait until another visit. And another visit is a must - Northumberland is surely one of England's under-appreciated gems.
