The Star Inn in Harbottle isn't just a pub; it's a cornerstone of the community, recently refurbished and radiating a welcoming ambiance. Celebrating its impressive 225-year anniversary, this establishment seamlessly blends historical charm with modern comforts. My recent visit offered a delightful experience, particularly when it came to the dining.
The menu boasts a range of dishes, and I was fortunate enough to sample a few standouts. The Jambalaya was a flavorful explosion, perfectly spiced and generously portioned. The lamb burger was another highlight, the patty cooked to perfection and served with delicious accompaniments. And, of course, the Sunday lamb roast was a triumph ? tender, succulent lamb with all the traditional trimmings, a true taste of Northumberland.
The refurbishment has clearly been a labor of love, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is tasteful, blending rustic elements with contemporary touches. It's a space that feels both comfortable and stylish, perfect for a casual meal or a celebratory gathering. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. Their knowledge of the menu and local area was impressive, and they were always on hand to offer recommendations or assistance.
Beyond the dining experience, The Star Inn also offers accommodation. While I didn't personally stay overnight, I understand the rooms are well-appointed and provide a comfortable base for exploring the surrounding area. The attached shop is a valuable asset, providing essentials for locals and visitors alike ? a thoughtful touch that underscores the Inn's commitment to the community.
Overall, The Star Inn is a true gem. Whether you're seeking a delicious meal, a comfortable place to stay, or simply a welcoming community pub, it's a destination that's sure to impress. The combination of excellent food, a charming ambiance, attentive service, and a rich history makes it a must-visit in Northumberland.

We ate here on Friday, it's very welcoming, with friendly staff. We had the pizza and it was the best we have ever had. We also had 2 very picky eaters (grandchildren) who cleared their plates too. The chocolate brownie was heaven. 5 stars from us ??

On a day ride out on bikes. Stopped off for lunch. Probably the best steak sandwich ever at I?ve ever had . Absolutely delicious.

We didn?t stay here, just ate here. Food was amazing. Beautiful pizza and the best homemade chips I?ve had for a long time.
The only negative was asking customers to keep a hold of their dirty cutlery to use again if having more than one course. Please invest in some more cutlery so not to cheapen an amazing place.

A great place to visit for a freshly made pizza after scaling up to Drake Stone and back. The Nduja pizza was fantastic. Plenty of seat outside the back and a little local shop if you need to stock up on anything. Oh yes and Dog friendly too.

We had dinner at this little pub and were so happy with our meal. We got a variety for our family (pizza, panuzzo, chicken fingers, and beef pie) and all were delicious. Friendly service, generous portion sizes, charming environment. Definitely recommend!
