We stayed for two nights in a room with a fabulous view of the sea and the Couple statue. Thursday evening is quiz night and I recommend you attend even if staying elsewhere entry just £1 per person.

Four of us visited The Old Ship for a Blues evening at which around 10 guitarists and singers took part. It was a very enjoyable evening and we would go again if wer were in the area. The sevice was very good and very friendly.

Sunday lunch as everyone says is excellent, Note would advise booking as its very popular. Great home cooked Sunday lunch and plenty of it ! Quiz night Thursdays, good quiz with a variety of questions, nice friendly atmosphere as well.

Off-putting from the exterior and built back to front so it looks out to the bay. Limited parking. Very popular for Sunday lunch and deservedly so. Cheerful service, good honest food, flavoursome and plentiful. At £9.95 a head pretty good value as well. Too full so we didn't eat pudding.

Been to the Old ship newbiggin today for Lunch well worth a visit. Good food excellent service fabulous atmosphere. Was there a couple weeks prior for Sunday lunch marvellous. Got to book for a Sunday but its worth it. Puddings are lush too. Warm and cosy.

Beautifully clean, fresh room with sound and view of the sea. Lovely friendly helpful staff. Staying one night but would love to come back for longer. Ideal for a morning dip in the North Sea. Loved luxuriating in comfortable bed after a day cycling on the Coast and Castles route

The front of this pub looks over the bay, unfortunately the back greets you. However, the warm welcome and rooms more than make up for outside appearances. Could not fault anything during our 2 night stay. The view is stunning from the room we stayed in.

Walked in of the chance for a Sunday lunch. Hadn?t booked but they squeezed us in wow were, we glad they did. Quite simply the best Sunday roast my wife and I have had. Everything was cooked to perfection and the price was very reasonable. My wife had the roast beef and I had roast beef and gammon which was only £1 extra, only trouble we had was walking back to where we were staying afterwards! Top marks, top food and top service

Our 1st visit to the old ship being new locals to the area we decided our 1st try would be this little place, booked a table for Sunday lunch i did not know there was a time limit for a table, we arrived in time the bar was busy served by one member of staff so a-little wait, we gave our reservation time and were told where we were to sit, took our order and payment we took our drinks and headed to our table and waited not long for our food, my daughter eats slow and i personally do not drink like a fish, the meal was good, good portions for small more of a regular portion, no complaints there the staff seemed fine and the place was busy, the Yorkshire pudding was on the burned a-little side, we did not have pudding which is just as well as by an hour we were told the table was booked for another, regardless there was plenty of other tables free we were politely told our time was up, no one asked if everything was ok or made hints would we want anything else it was basically you have ate and paid now leave, this is my only complaint, you go out to have Sunday dinner to relax and enjoy the company of a local pub, i had not finished my drink fully which i left and we did not make a fuss, we left, i would say by all means go and have a meal and a drink quickly, but your not welcome to stay, on theses grounds i will not be returning and will try a more friendly non production line public house for our next Sunday lunch.

Lovely staff and friendly regulars. Sea view from room window was beyond expectations - could see all local landmarks. On nights when there was no food available, staff were happy for food to be taken into the bar or eaten in the lounge by the fire. A real home from home.
