Allana was an excellent host, we had the Chuck Steak Burger which was cooked perfectly to my instructions, also the rump steak which was amazing, compliments to the chef, would highly recommend and will definitely be returning ?

Close to the A1, opposite Morpeth. Worth seeking out if you want to break your journey or stay overnight. The staff were friendly and our room was comfortable. The food was very good. Recommend the scotch egg with a spicy masala dall, the steak burger and the outstanding steak pie.

Lovely surroundings and comfortable and spacious but very noisy due to echoey pub down the corridor; a match on apparently !Beautiful food but servers not very attentive nor knowledgeable about fish of the day nor the wine unfortunately. This restaurant could be very good !

Having not been to St Mary?s Inn for some 4 years we decided to give it a try. We arrived for Sunday lunch on time and we?re seated very quickly. For some reason the waitress serving us was slightly off and must have gotten out of the bed on the wrong side! We ordered some drinks and one of them was a Peroni to have the waitress come over and say that was off so they could offer the St Mary?s Inn lager of which was ordered. Upon arrival it was Peroni so not sure what was going on. The food was ordered and a question over the menu was asked but not answered and the waitress was not very obliging and seemed off about us asking! Food arrived and then came the veg. All very good but in the mashed turnip was 2 roast potatoes that were whole - the food was reasonable but when I asked about the roast potatoes again the waitress was not very obliging and slightly rude in her reply. As a result we did not bother with a dessert and simply asked for the bill of which we paid but no tip was left. Food was ok but the service was poor.

I hadn't visited for a quite a while, and the menu and quality of food has significantly improved. I really enjoyed a wild garlic risotto. It certainly isn't cheap, however the food is excellent quality, as was the service. Plenty of parking and thankfully not a noisy atmosphere at all.

Had our first visit and had Sunday lunch?. Absolutely 2nd to none. Warm friendly welcome from Sandra, Rebecca was lovely at our table along with ALL staff being very friendly. Yorkshires with shredded beef are incredible and the unique Eton Mess desert was to die for. Can?t wait to visit again and take advantage of dog friendly areas- thank you and look forward to seeing you all on a regular basis in the future ?? Dawn & David Lawson :)

Excellent food and a great atmosphere. We all had something different and all six meals were very nice. Good choice of beers, wines and spirits.

First off can?t fault the rooms or the staff who were all lovely. Some of the food was fantastic - scotch egg and chocolate pave were first class but the fish pie lacking in fish/flavour and then when found a largish piece of fish in the middle the fish was still raw, need to watch this. Sausages at breakfast were very poor and the ?buffet? just covered the bare minimum, no bread and roses sourdough just sliced bread. Finally liberal sprinkling of oniony chives at breakfast is not what most people want although looks nice! But overall a great place/stay. Many thanks

Came here for Sunday Lunch, having not been here in a while, and left really disappointed. We were there with family and our baby (having booked the previous day) and we were made to feel very unwelcome - we were shown to a table without enough room for a high chair or for us to put the pram or anything, squashed between two other tables. The woman who showed us to the table was rude and unhelpful, begrudgingly she moved two tables together so we had room and said we should have let them know when booking that we had a baby - I did! When I said this to her she shrugged and walked off. Not a great start! We waited a long time to be served - had to ask in the end as we were getting thirsty and hungry! Eventually when we were served, half the menu was not available- this was 2:30 on a Sunday! People still arriving were being turned away as they had ?run out of food?(!) The food that did arrive was not pleasant - roast beef supposed to be medium was very rare. Cheap cuts of meat. Cheap options for veg - mashed swede and carrot and cabbage! And everything tasted as though the chef had poured in a vat of salt. Dessert we decided against as again items not available. Got coffees and tea - all arrived at different times and no milk provided. Health and safety issue - please please do not pass a plate holding a very full jug of hot gravy over the head of a baby and place it in front of them!! Seriously not impressed! And then to top it all off, having to walk out through clouds of smoke and loud drunk people huddled in the main entrance- just what I want my baby to walk through. It?s a shame as we live only round the corner but we certainly won?t be returning any time soon.

It's a lovely place. The bedroom was large and well appointed and very comfortable. There was limited choice of food in the evening but it was well cooked and tasty. In addition to the main restaurant there is a bar area where you can have bar snacks but it's not really a drinking pub in that the doors close at 10 pm! We probably suffered in that there just weren't many people there so there was little atmosphere and perhaps they had reduced the range of food as a consequence. It was a shame because it is very nice as were the staff. Breakfast was excellent. It was very quiet and a good night's sleep was had.

Arrived at 6.30 for our evening meal after a 6 hour drive. Waited 20 minutes before going on a search to find someone to assist us order our drinks and food , place was not particularly busy. Our waitress did not have any drinks menus , and had no knowledge of beer or ales in tap...I had to walk round to the bar and ask myself. Ordered starters and main for my wife and I, and mains for our young children. Waitress comes back after another 20 mins to say there is no squid starter and my wife swaps her starter to a cod scotch egg. Staff mixed up the orders and wife gets her cod Scotch egg , Kids mains arrive straight after. At the hour mark I as where my madras scotch egg starter is , and waitress tells me it's coming with my pizza main. At this point I go get the Manageress and advise there's kitchen issues.Shes polite and offers drinks on the house, my wife accepts a drink, I decline. 1 Hour 10 my wife's main arrives and I'm still waiting on starter, no one's come near us to ask how the food is ,but asking those all around us , some of which came in after us and now on mains , not surprised as I've made a complaint, so now I'm being ignored. Scotch egg arrives and it's another cod scotch egg not what I ordered , and , when I get to the middle it's cold , so I send it back with the manageress. Wife and kids finish dinner , kids chips were laid on a bed of salt !! and boys burger was pink. Now we're at 1 hr 30 and my pizza (funghi) finally arrives with a mountain of rocket and balsamic and half the grated cheese of the city of Parma on top of it, and the guy/ alleged chef is watching from his port hole to see if I'm eating.....not a chance fella , not touching your Italian surprise! Paid the bill , declined to pay for the scotch egg. Not a single word nor apology from either of the young waitresses. Avoid this restaurant. All pretence , no trained friendly staff , no polite service...and no food. ? * Currently Sitting outside a takeaway in Morpeth waiting on something to eat with two very tired kids and wife, as I rather disappointingly type this review in frustration? Date of visit: June 30th 2023 , the 1st day of our holiday
