Eshott Hall is truly a hidden gem that exudes character and charm. My husband and I recently spent a night there, and we were impressed from the moment we walked in. The warm welcome we received at the front desk set the tone for our stay, and the exceptional service provided by Victoria truly stood out.
The grounds surrounding the hall are breathtaking, adding to the overall enchanting atmosphere. What makes this place special, however, is the staff. Their attentiveness and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home. Victoria, in particular, went above and beyond, and we are grateful for her outstanding service.
Our dining experience was nothing short of exquisite. The three-course meal we enjoyed was fine dining at its best, complemented by brilliant service throughout the meal. Breakfast the next morning continued the trend of excellence.
We are aware that Eshott Hall is planning a refurbishment, and while we wholeheartedly support any improvements, we sincerely hope that the unique character of this beautiful building is preserved. It would be a shame to lose the charm that makes it so inviting.
Having visited many halls in Northumberland and surrounding areas, I can confidently say that Eshott Hall has been our favorite. A huge thank you to the staff for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. We hope it continues to be a place of comfort, staying true to its roots rather than becoming overly corporate. We can?t wait to return!

We went for Christmas lunch.
All was well I until we were put in a small anti room as residents were in the main dining room. We were put in a corner looking at the wall. We waited nearly an hour for our starter which could have been waiting on the table. We then waited an hour for our main course and again for desert. The two gentlemen doing the drinks did brilliantly. Our order was wrong and they insisted it was me who got it wrong. Not so.
I understand the hotel is up for sale but that is no excuse.
Starter Pate with what appeared to be a slice of stale gingerbread. Pate ok the rest poor.
Main course just ok but cold
Dessert not nice at all.
Very disappointed.

Absolutely terrible. Disgusting food. Took an hour to get a drink. Wouldn't give that to a dog a hate and I love dogs.

A great place to stay which is dog friendly. Super quiet little place with tennis courts and an outdoor wedding venue. Will be even better when the staff know what?s going on!
Rooms: The rooms are dog friendly
Nearby activities: It?s 12 minutes from the local parking so you can burn off that breakfast
Noteworthy details: It had just changed hands early December and the staff didn?t have a clue what was going on. I had to tell the waitress three times what I wanted for breakfast and it still came wrong

Room was beauriful, tv is a non smart tv, make sure you love bbc1 and bbc2 before coming here! Do not go for food! Extortionate prices for food that is disgraceful! Disgusted at raw lamb this evening! Would not recommend to people I like at all!
Rooms: Room was beautiful, tv was awful not even smart tv and only had bbc1 and BBC 2
Walkability: Lovely walks available
Food and drinks: Do not order! Silly prices for awful food

Visited for Sunday lunch in their award winning 2 rosette restaurant. Unfortunately we didn't get to see this restaurant as we were seated at a table in the bar! We were a party of 4. Some of the food was Ok but not what I expected. The atmosphere was non existent, not helped by a party of very loud people coming into the bar so we were unable to converse within our table because of the noise. There was a dog running around loose and as some of our party were elderly and use a walking stick I politely asked the person with dog to control it while we got out of the door. His reply was, she'll be fine! My sister was terrified. Having managed to negotiate the dreadful step we left.
The step is a safety issue and should be addressed immediately. It is dangerous not only to the elderly and disabled.
The rule on dogs is documented on their hotel website and states they should be kept on a lead and should be controlled at all times.
Probably the worst experience of a lunch out I have ever had.
Safety: See my comments about step to enter venue
Food and drinks: Not very good

Eshott Hall Sunday Lunch
Our very disappointing experience with Sunday Lunch at Eshott Hall. Our experience fell well short of the claims on the web site.
The web site claims
Enjoy fine dining in the hushed candlelight of our elegant restaurant.
Taking Sunday lunch in the elegant surroundings of Eshott Hall?s 2-rosette awarded restaurant is a rare treat.
Our experience
We never saw the restaurant. We were put on a single table tucked behind the door in the bar. There was no atmosphere and towards the end of our meal a group of 6-8 arrived in the bar with loud conversation and a dog running free. This is not my idea of elegant surroundings or a rare treat. At one point we could not continue a conversation as the newcomers were so loud.
The website claims
Our roasts are fast becoming the stuff of legend.
Our experience
The roast was nothing special. The Yorkshire puddings were dry. The roast potatoes were hard. The chicken was OK. This was in no way a two rosette quality meal. If this is a legend it is one to forget.
The website claims
We?re popular ? remember to book your place in advance
Our experience
There was no sign of the popularity when we took lunch on the 3rd November, in fact it looked as if we were the only ones having lunch.
I have been in the hospitality industry for over 50 years and I have to say that our experience fell well short of expectations and was nothing like the claims on the website.
One to be avoided in future.
Food and drinks: Disappointing and not two rosette standard
Noteworthy details: Be careful where you are going to be served. We never saw the restaurant.

Attended the Princess Party afternoon tea today and it was absolutely fantastic.. the staff were great , friendly and accommodating. The place was decorated lovely , fit for any princess . Afternoon tea was lovely with a great selection for adults and the children?s suited them perfectly.
Belle and prince Adam were brilliant and tried extremely hard to include all the children, even those who were hesitant to join in.
All in all a great afternoon out , and not ridiculously priced as often is the case with these things .
Well done to all involved, it was a great afternoon .

Give it E shot!
Scuse the pun but do yourself a favour and treat yourself to a break at Eshott Hall.
My wife and I together with another couple decided to give ourselves an autumn pamper and booked a 1 night break with dinner in this lovely Northumberland hotel. The palladian villa sits in its own mature ground surrounded by exquisite gardens and woodland. The giant hardwoods are perhaps as old as the building! The hotel has a varied choice of accommodation from adjoining stables rooms and garden cottages but we decided that the featured rooms within the original building merited the extra expense and we were certainly not disappointed. Our room was 'The Wisteria' and I wouldn't be surprised if it was possibly the signature room for the hotel... it could well have had a total makeover recently it was that nice and fresh and faced out towards the front lawn.
The lounges and bar were typical for the period that it represented with enormously high ceilings and ornate cornices and a fireplace you could have fit your car into it was so big.. We wouldn't like to cop the bill to keep the fire burning with coal and logs on those winter evenings that are about to be on us in tScusehe coming weeks however. Our next visit will probably be in the summer when we can more appreciate the delightful garden and lawns and generally make use of the tables and chairs around the entrance with some drinks and nibbles. As we have a dog he was happy as larry and was fetted by all the staff and Arlo has already mentioned that he definitely wants a return visit in the not too distant future. .. the breakfast sausages that they treated him to perhaps has something to do with that!
Now would a good time to mention the staff... every member of staff was a credit to this hotel and as such the management would do well to remember this.. Particular mention should go to Victoria and Marissa who excelled in their attentiveness to our every need..

A lovely country hotel with impressive looks. Fantastic setting.
Good sized room with super comfy bed and duvet.
We stayed in the Aldaniti room.
Very clean.
Had a very poor service and food experience on our first evenings dinner.
Second evenings dinner was perfect thanks to the intervention of the GM.
The GM dealt with our issues very professionally and exceeded our expectations.
The dining serving staff seemed uninterested, unmotivated and unwilling to take orders, keep us informed or help ensure we had an enjoyable experience. The bar staff were the opposite- both left us with a good impression.
I have no doubt the GM will resolve these issues.
We would not be in a rush to revisit.

Beautiful grounds to walk around, very quiet.
Rooms: Room was lovely, only down side a fair few dead fly's dotted around the room, window sills and visible cobwebs.

Nice place, a little in need of investment but a nice spot. The food is good and if you stay, go and see the walled garden which is really nice.
