Popped in for a browse on Monday and left clutching two books.
The staff are outstanding and seem to have an encyclopedic knowledge of literature and their stock.

The Waterstones bookshop in Newcastle is centrally located next to Greys Monument in an imposing three story building with lots of space to browse in comfort and relative peace.
The highlight of the store is the knowledgeable staff that work there. Always able to assist with even the most obscure request; they are friendly, informative, and always happy to help.
The store also has a small cafe which, although I didn't try it myself, seemed popular and not too crowded when visited, with a good assortment of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Just popped in to the branch at Hexham no problem in buying a book, the one I wanted was out of stock but store would order one in, the staff were very helpful.
