Just had the most wonderful time at the Pheasant Inn as we were visiting the Kielder Observatory for one of their Special Events.
The room was very nice and spotlessly clean. Dinner was great as was the breakfast which was delicious. Staff were really friendly and we will definitely be back when we visit the Observatory again!

Ate here 4 nights ago. The lamb dish and the accompanying red wine jus was one of the best dine out experiences I?ve had. The cooking was just exquisite. The dessert was a 10/10 as well.Pity the front of house staff refused our request of having the fire on in our dining area. Said there was already one on next door, but we weren?t sitting next door, were we. It was a cold night and the hospitality fell a little short for me.

Booked last minute for the restaurant as we needed a change from where we were staying. Very accommodating to get us in with 20 mins notice. The food was fantastic, I had the Lamb Shoulder and my wife had the Beef. Both were cooked and presented to perfection. I also tried the Apple and Cinnamon crumble with custard. Yummy. The staff in the bar and restaurant took time out to speak to us and were very very friendly. One of the best places I?ve eaten at in a long time. Highly recommended. Wish we?d found the place earlier on a weekend break away.

In mid-October my son and I arrived in time for a delicious sunday lunch and handpulled pint. The staff were very welcoming, with good humour and it was easy to build up a friendly rapport (if you wished). The twin room, in a garden courtyard linked to the pub building, was pleasantly decorated, tv and usual hot drinks making items, beds smart and comfortable, with a very decent en suite bathroom with a good shower. We were due to be at the Kielder Observatory for an 8 till late Astro Photography session so the keyed outdoor access to our room meant a quiet, trouble free return.Breakfast in the morning was spot on and as ordered the previous evening. Bright, cheery service.Would certainly stay again!!Nearby activities: Walks galore nearby at Hawkhope Park, Kielder Water a very short distance along the road, sailing club, Elf Kirk Viewpoint, Water Ski Club, Bird of Prey Centre and Waterside, Kielder village and its Viaduct. The Kielder Observatory, Skyspace and Red Trail are a very easy 7 miles/20 mins drive along a smooth surfaced road.Food & drinks: Served at tables in 4 characterful pub bar rooms, our Sunday Lunch type meals (it was Sunday lunchtime!) were perfectly cooked, certainly flavorsome and just the right sized portions. Handpulled pints available, didn't explore wine or spirits on offer but looked to have a fair display.

We called in after a visit to Kielder Observatory, and got a warm welcome, great service and a piping hot, great tasting meal. Given 6 of us arrived without prior booking close to the kitchen closing, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area in need of good pub grub.

We spent two days by Kielder water in this lovely pub. Room was clean and warm and bed was very comfortable. Staff in the pub in the evening were lovely. Special mention to Angela who looked after us so well and Adele who is cheerful friendly and helpful Breakfast staff lovely. . Food was really good. A shout out for the lamb dish and the butter chicken. The wine choices were great too. A great base for cycling/walking in the area. Very close to the lake. The first night after dinner we were lucky enough to see the aurora from the pub car park!

We stayed at The Pheasant Inn as it was convenient for an event at Kielder Observatory. The accommodation and food were excellent in a lovely village setting. Staff were very friendly and we had a nice relaxing stay.

This was just a stopping off point from Scotland on our way home to Yorkshire and what a lovely surprise. The pheasant is a warm and friendly pub with great food which was a nice change from our last stop a big chain hotel which was very corporate. The bedrooms are cosy and very comfortable, we will definitely visit again.

We stayed for three nights in this excellent base to tour the area. This is a very fine pub, the bar/restaurant is welcoming and furnished with some interesting fittings, the food is excellent. Our room was not large but perfectly satisfactory, with a good en-suite. Why not five stars? Well, I think the room price a bit high, but don?t let that put you off. We would certainly stay at The Pheasant again if visiting Kielder.

This is a very typical country Inn, some of the rooms are ground floor around a courtyard, the staff are very friendly, food is good, and though they serve pie the menu is a little more imaginative, to suit all palettes, even vegetarians, the rooms are very comfortable as are the beds, the WiFi works well but don't expect to make or receive a phone call, this is the area not the hotels fault, it's close to the lake and all amenities.
