The staff @ the Hexham branch are always accommodating but it's impossible to 'phone through to the branch (or any other) without going through the Halifax automated 0345 number - and that's where the rot sets in; appalling disregard for 'customer care' and a barrage of largely irrelevant questions to which there are offered spurious 'tick-box' answers. Then to be told, at the end of an interminable period and at considerable cost, that one will be put through to an 'advisor' but as there is 'unprecedented demand' there will be a wait of ..................... anything up to goodness knows how long.Finally, to rub salt good and properly in to the wound, to be told that if you're too busy to wait, you can always ring back! No question of 'we'll ring you'! Halifax still calls itself 'a people's business'. What a load of PR tosh ................I only gave one star because one can't 'post' one's comments without giving at least one! I would give any if that had been as option.F.T.

What kind of bank is only open till half 2? Honestly! Shocking opening hours, slow service. No wonder I only use online banking
