Excellent hotel, both my wife and myself had a fantastic stay.
Food in the restaurant was also perfect and to top it off we stayed the weekend of the beer festival.
We wouldn't hesitate to visit again and when time permits be sure we will be back.

We stayed in the luxury lodge accommodation over two nights and participated in the dark night observatory experience on the glorious 12th. The accommodation is top notch. The service was excellent. We had dinner on our first night and it was also excellent food and service. Breakfast was outstanding. Wark and the River North Tyne is delightful. Saw shooting stars, the rings of Saturn and a very bright moon. To top it all off we were presented with a bottle of fizz to celebrate my wife's 70th. Fantastic.

Battlesteads totally exceeded my expectations, we were simply blown away and instantly wanted to go back as soon as we left! One thing that stood out was their commitment to being green and sustainable. They are also very dog-friendly!
Our stay was a gift for my partner's 30th, so it was really special. We booked a luxury lodge for two nights. The lodge is beautifully presented, nicely decorated, and definitely has a feeling of luxury. We had a large, comfortable bed with a firmish mattress. The bathroom is very modern and comes with a double sink, walk-in shower, jacuzzi bath, and toilet. In the room there is a TV, tea and coffee (Ringtons, yum!), two seating areas, and a beautiful skylight. There are some extra touches that were a pleasant surprise, such as a tower fan, complementary fruit and waters in the mini fridge, and complimentary dressing gown and slippers.
The obvious selling point of this hotel is the on-site Dark Sky Observatory, which we enjoyed immensely. Our astronomy guide Rita was a delight and we got to see so many stars, galaxies, as well as Saturn. We got to use the telescope and each were given a pair of binoculars. It was a magical experience.
There are disability-friendly lodges that are accessible by ramp, whereas ours had 5 steps. The entire grounds are either fairly flat, or on a gentle upward slope. There is disabled parking and all the buildings are very close together if you struggle with mobility.
Our meals were simply delicious! The breakfast menu is fairly varied, with vegetarian options. The hotel prides itself on its homegrown and local produce, and the quality is exceptional. It really felt like fine dining but staff were always friendly and relaxed so it wasn't overly formal, which we loved.
I cannot fault the staff--every interaction we had was a positive one, from check-in to check-out. Our room was cleaned immaculately, and we genuinely felt looked after. Thank you to all staff for making our stay such a wonderful experience that we will cherish forever ??

I stayed here for one night while doing the northumberland 250 on my motorbike had evening meal and breakfast here and could not fault either the waitresses were lovely polite and couldn't do enough for you, the only thing I would say is the menu in the welcome pack in the room doesn't match the restaurant menu, the room was clean and tidy it had everything you ever need all in all excellent

Pros - Lovely garden & cute style inn
Nice touch with the natural bathroom products, fruit, tea coffee in the room.
Cons - No fridge in the room, the room was also like a oven..windows do not have a latch so during the night for security had to fully close them. No blinds or black out curtains on the windows so light came streaming in.
Bathroom extractor fan isn't strong enough so adds to the heat in the room.
Evening meal was average especially the brisket burger.
Ok stay for one night on the way to somewhere else.

Such a relaxing weekend, value for money is excellent, onsite bar and restaurant are wonderful, nothing was too much for the staff, and the gardens are beautiful. Recommend this place without any hesitation

Very poor quality, meagre portions and incredibly over priced.
A Stale burger bun and a dry burger, hard to believe it was a home made brisket burger as it resembled and tasted like a frozen one. The soup also tasted like a packet version
Couldn?t be more disappointed for a pub that champions local produce and fine dining, the produce did not live up to this.
Also a £1 charge for tap water supposedly for wateraid despite no mention of this or confirmation that it actually goes to the charity?
