What a find, an absolute hidden gem of a pub. We were staying for a couple nights at the Camping & Caravan Site about 25 mins walk away, a lovely woodland walk with the dogs to find this great pub. Good range of ales etc, lovely owners, friendly locals and hit lucky it was a buskers night so excellent music too. Thank you Wallace Arms for the warm welcome we wish you well from Julie, Dave with Bobbi & Belinda the puggieso ?

Camping locally, our best friends had recommended this lovely country pub, as they always walk there when they visit this area. Walked to pub along Cycle Route 68. Lovely pub in a great setting. Made very welcome by the chap behind the bar, who pointed out that it was ?Cash Only? (There is a sign on the bar). No issues there, we always carry cash wherever we go, as all seasoned travellers do. 2 lovely golden pints of real ale. They don't serve food, but we were prepared for that; taking our our cheese and crackers etc. They do allow you to order from local takeaways and have it delivered or rake your own. Looking forward to the next time we are this way. Thank you Wallace Arms, all of the best pubs are in the middle of no where.

We found this lovely pub on our 6.2 mile circular trail. Very welcome on a warm day as it's the only pub on the walk..... Unfortunately they don't take card and with no access to a cash machine, we couldn't have a drink.
They are missing out on a lot of passing trade by only taking cash as this is a popular walking route.

I've been going to the Wallace for over 30 years. It's a great pub which has a great atmosphere and plenty of locals for a chat. The Pennine Pale ale from Allendale never disappoints. Usually there's a lovely coal fire to sit by, when it's cold. Recently it's drinks only (no food), and cash only ( no cards). Top pub!

We received the best of welcomes when we visited yesterday. Camping locally I had no cash and was advised the pub was cash only (I later found this to be a temporary issue following a bereavement). I made contact and was invited to attend and make any due payment by bank transfer. The pub was no more than 30 minutes walk across pleasant fields and woodland and along the cycle track. A warm welcome and conversations with friendly locals put this pub in my highest esteem. Pay a visit, absolutely worthwhile.

We liked the look of this place when we passed it around lunchtime on Saturday 24 May. Sadly we were unable to get further than the bar before we saw a large sign saying Cash Only!
We were a party of 10 people but as of course none of us had cash..who carries cash in this day and age?- we were unable to get a drink. Utterly ridiculous. Pity as what with drinks and lunch we might?ve spent over £100?
Business suicide!!

Lovely welcoming country pub.
We had a couple of beers in the garden and bought some of Lilly?s free range eggs off the bar and they were the best ever. Thanks.

Great little country pub, a good selection of ales and bar snacks, friendly staff and locals. Ideal location for a stop off for walkers.

Nice cosy pub. Cash only. Locals are great, they even gave a customer money and got them to transfer the money over with mobile banking. Bit disappointed I sat on a load of dog hairs (I'm allergic to animal fur).
