We actually went to get a cup of something and a piece of cake at around 2pm only to find that the cafe was shut! Why can't a sign be put on the main boards with open and closed months?!Also, why can't the tickets in the parking lots tell you they are transferable if you get an all day ticket...I've given 4 stars purely for the views!

I went for a walk around kielder, and as I did the 7 mile walk, passed the centre, before and after the walk, staff very helpful

Went to the cafe literally after it opened at 11am. The floor was filthy. Crumbs, bits of food everywhere and all under the tables.Tables weren?t clean either. Not much on the menu for a cafe.Few cakes, pasties and sandwiches. Not much else to see in that part.

My wife and I called in here during a country drive, we used the toilets were clean and comfortable . We then parked on the lakeside in a disabled bay, my wife called into the visitor shop for some food and came back with some goodies including a chicken and haggis pie, yes you read that correctly, it was the best pie I have eaten in many years. As we ate our picnic in our car we attracted the attention of a flock of small birds who approached seeking crumbs. They were so friendly some of them mainly sparrows a couple of goldfinches and a robin flew up to the window and took food from my fingers. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend a visit.

A great place to start and end your cycle round the reservoir if you have your own bikes as there is a big car park (£5 for the day), toilets, shop and cafe. There isn't bike hire at this car park; it's further up the road at Kielder Waterside. Took around four hours to ride the full circuit on non e-bikes for our 13 year old kids. Best to take food and water as the opposite side of the reservoir (North side) has no public road access, limited mobile reception and no facilities to speak of from the dam to Kielder Viaduct (12+ miles).

Rainy Monday, and we are pretty much the only people parked up. The lady in the visitor centre shop was very helpful..if you don't have enough cash (change) for the parking machine you can pay by cash or card in the shop. You can also visit the Osprey Hide to see if the birds are in their nest on the live camera feed. We saw the Ospreys out hunting over the water and also saw some deer on our walk. Lovely place.

This is a very clean place to visit it has the osprey view centre also a shop and the toilets are very well kept nice place just to sit and have a coffee it's also popular with the fisherman you can get your day ticket from the shop or on line if that's easier and it's on the main loop around kielder so if you biking or walking around the dam you will pass this place .also it's a nice place to park and pick up the trail and do the full loop of 27 miles it's quite hilly but if you not in a rush most people can manage it just a few hill that might need to be walked up plus all-day parking for 5 pounds is a real bargain well worth it for a day out

Stopped off for lunch. Greeted with "cash only our card reader is not working." There was food on display, but nothing priced up. A blackboard looked like it should have displayed prices, but it was totally blank. I only had limited cash on me so just got coffee and tea. Beverages came in paper cups. Not a great experience, and I went elsewhere for lunch. The osprey viewing and gift shop were excellent. Gift shop's card machine worked. If I had just rated the cafe only, I would've given it 1 star.

Enjoyed our day here. Good walks and good facilities. Had a lovely coffee/cake. Staff is very friendly. Toilets clean. Parking used cash, so have £1 pound coins ready. If not, you go to the visitor centre where you can park. The ticket is valid for other parking spots along the forest route.

The centre wasn't open, no staff? But we enjoyed a spy through the Osprey cam, a cuppa, loo break and a walk down to the water.A little chaffinch joined us for tea too
