Great food with a great view

We had an excellent stay here, shame it was only for one night. We received a lovely welcome and were shown to the rooms. There is an open plan kitchen/lounge which were well stocked/provisioned including a welcome box and a bottle of milk. Then there was a bedroom with a comfortable double bed and a bathroom. All were clean and tidy. We made it into the pub for drinks and were made very welcome. If we come back to the area I would certainly look to stay here again.

Review is for food only, didn't stay. Staff very friendly and food reasonably priced, good portion sizes and lots to choose from. I had a chicken burger which was delicious, rest of party very happy with theirs too.

Unprofessional staff. No welcome as we approached the bar. We asked to look at a menu and when asked what we would like, bowl of fries, the older short dark hair possibly Scottish barmaid, rolled her eyes!

What a lovely place! Lovely accommodation for 2 nights, resting after several days hiking. The room had a kitchen and lounge as well as lovely clean bedroom. We ate at the pub both nights. The serving sizes were large, and the food delicious. The atmosphere was friendly and cosy, clean and airy. Milecastle Inn is well located on the Hadrian's Wall Walk and a great place to stay.

Visited Milecastle Inn too early so went to the other one. Then ate here the next night. Can I just say the Milecastle food was head and shoulders better. Actually got vegetables rather than the limp ugh in sauce at the other pub. Battered prawn starter then seabass main. (Lovely crispy skin as requested). Good real ale. This is a small pub so definitely need to book and as so small I can understand the no dogs policy. This is a plus for me as quite frankly not everyone likes or wants dogs. Fellow customers so friendly and the staff 1st class.
