Stayed here for one night while exploring Hadrian's Wall. This place has the best British hospitality. Everyone was so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were clean and cozy.

Great hotel in the main street of Haltwhistle. Huge, comfortable room with large bathroom and a most welcome bath (after a hard day walking). TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Staff could not have been nicer. Hubby and I opted for an evening meal on our first night and we had a dining room just to ourselves, with a beautifully layed table. We chose our food from a three course set menu and it was very good. Breakfast was equally excellent.

I arrived in Haltwhistle in the late afternoon without having any accommodation booked. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts to find somewhere to stay, staff at the pub I was at suggested I try The Centre of Britain hotel across the road. A very pleasant young man at reception said there was a room available (#8, facing the courtyard/parking area. It had a couch, TV and bathroom on the lower level and the bed on a mezzanine floor accessible via a fairly steep staircase. I had a comfortable nights rest and enjoyed the included breakfast. Free on-site parking was a bonus. I?m happy to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hadrians Wall or the associated forts and walks.

Stayed in the Centre of Britain hotel for a work trip and it couldn?t have been nicer, the room was large, very clean and cosy. All of the staff were so lovely and kind, nothing was too much. Christine is a gem and a credit to the hotel, she will do anything to make her guests feel welcome and looked after, she even made me breakfast after the normal breakfast time had finished. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for great service and a nice rest.

The Centre of Britain is located mid town with local shops nearby. It has a variety of meals in the evening. At the back of the hotel is private parking. When we arrived the receptionist James was very friendly and welcoming. The food was very nice. The rooms are clean and spacey, we had one that was seperate from the main building and because there are two floors it has a feeling like an appartement. My Dad has Diabetes and it was no problem to store his insulin in the hotel kitchen, he even got an emergency key if he needed to get it during the night. Now in Haltwhistle itsself there isn't really a lot going on so you should travel here if you're in need of a more quiet getaway.

We enjoyed the stay. First class accommodation and attentive staff who couldn?t do enough for us. We had an evening meal which was ?spot on? and the breakfast was outstanding. Set us on our way for our continued bike trip. Graham

Stayed here for 4 nights whilst we radiated out to walk Hadrian's Wall. Absolutely fantastic establishment and staff were exceptional and very welcoming. Christine the chef is brilliant in the kitchen and the food was sensational. Do yourself a favour and do stay here. For those hiking it is right next to the AD 122 Hadrian's Wall bus stop and also has a laundry next door.

My girlfriend and I recently spent two nights at the Center of Britain during our hike of the Hadrian's Wall Path. It's a simple place, but met our needs very well. The staff were excellent, the food was good, and the rooms were comfortable. Highly recommended.

We popped in on the off chance to get a meal greeted by a welcoming young host who said they did have availability for food and did allow dogs too. Lovely food, friendly staff - the chef even popped out to say hello to our dog. Food was great scampi, salmon and then two lambs. Really can?t recommend Thank you again.

Booking was by friends who were travelling on a road tour in my vehicle. There is an off street enclosed parking area at rear for guests with rear access to the hotel. This hotel is very tastefully decorated and appointed. We made use of an upstairs residents lounge for part of the evening which was very comfortable. Did not have an evening meal so cannot comment but the reason for eating elsewhere was nothing to do with this hotel - just fancied sampling another establishment. Breakfast was in a lovely room and was good and well served. My double room was very comfortable with a very spacious en-suite. I could see the parking area for my vehicle from my room. The hotel is in the centre of Haltwhistle and it is a very easy walk to shops, fish and chips next door and pubs (some of which have local character). Would definitely stay here again if the occasion arose.

What a lovely hotel! We stayed for two nights in Room 2. The room is very large with a large comfortable bed at one end and at the other, a cosy flame effect fire with two leather Chesterfield armchairs. All facilities were spotlessly clean and the food on offer is carefully prepared, with a good choice at breakfast time and for dinner. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Nearby is the Black Bull, which is a great traditional pub. We will return!
