An update, original review still stands and follows this. Came back the next day as the food was that good, had the beer battered fish and chips ( large obviously ), this was perfectly cooked and talk about a plate full. The service again was as perfect as the day before, welcomed like an hand in the place. Will definitely be venturing here again ???Just popped in off the chance of a bit of grub. From the bar staff to the serving staff, nothing was too much, you were made to feel welcome the moment you walked in, no matter how lost you looked. 5 real ales on ( I know some don't count Doom Bar anymore ? ) well kept too. I had the bubble and squeak pie, absolutely fantastic, talk about a good pie and home made chips ????. The staff were great with all customers, whether the 2 or 4 legged variety. Treats and refreshments for all the 4 legged friends, they were probably treated better than the 2 legged customers ??? A gem on their doorstep the locals must love. I would highly recommend this place, we are looking at staying over here next time, it's that goodNoteworthy details: The ales are really well kept, landlord/lady definitely knows their skillset

The food is excellent. You must try the crumble, the hazelnuts in the crumble are next level. The mash with the roast was second best and the size of the drinks were third. Fantastic ?

Popped in on the chance we could grab a spare table on a Sunday evening and was met with a lovely welcome.It was very busy, with a good atmosphere and kind and helpful staff who went to great lengths to accommodate us.What a nice place to visit, lovely food with a warm and happy vibe, I would love to have it on my doorstep.Thank you for rounding off a lovely day in NorthumberlandFood & drinks: I had the Sunday roast with Lamb and all the trimmings which was very nicely done a huge Yorkshire and extra gravy. Patricia had soup, chips & cauliflower cheese which is a bit of a mix up really but she enjoyed it as she isn't a great meat lover, preferring pasta & salads etc.Everything was cooked well and served nicely, well recommended.Noteworthy details: Has a lovely friendly vibe, very busy despite being mid-Feb and Sunday night. I'd imagine it would be really popular in summer, sitting by the river in the beer garden across the road. I must come back and test this theory ?The staff were always busy and efficient, it's obvious to see this is a very capable and well run pub. Thanks for a very nice night.

Visited on a wet Thursday afternoon in February and the food and ambience in this pub were both excellent. The staff were friendly too. Highly recommended

Warm cosy atmosphere, staff welcomed us graciously and delivered an immaculate service, as well as impeccable food. Couldn't fault the staff at all we were treated like royalty from start to finish. Only one small qualm, and forgive me for saying so, but can't help but feel it may have been slightly over priced for the portion of Turbot that arrived on the plate. Absolutely divine otherwise though.

Very limited menu, food was OK but nothing out of the ordinary. Took over an hour from ordering to the food arriving. 2 main courses, a side order and 3 drinks came to about £55. Don't think I'd go back.

It's ok. The menu is a bit limited especially for vegetarians. A bit pricey for what it is.

Outstanding service! I arrived with a colleague hoping for a drink and somewhere quiet to do some work. It was a busy lunchtime and, despite not wanting food, a table was found and someone came to get us when it was ready.More generally, the pub was warm and welcoming, very clean throughout, with good decor and furniture. Great selection of drinks. I wish I could say more about the food selection (and also wish the Northumberland Arms was closer to where I live).
