APPLETREE LODGE ! This place is scruffy. The location isn't the best at all either. Bedrooms smell like damp, interior is well dated. It isn't a lodge either, best way to describe it would be an old static with a hot tub on the side of it with no views and slippery mossy decking around it . Be prepare to have to deal with the owner aswell he isnt a nice person and not helpful and quite rude if im honest , terrible value for the money I recommend you look elsewhere unless your desperate to book a last minute stay like we did , never again. We're about to leave Olives Place after 3 nights here. I have to say from start to finish what an amazing place this is. I highly recommend staying here. We were greeted by a welcome pack comprising bottle of prosecco, bar of chocolate and large packet of crisps. I thought this was a lovely touch by the owners. The kitchen is very well equipped with good quality cooking implements. It is decorated very tastefully with lots of throws to cuddle up into whilst relaxing on the sofa or outside on the large verandah had the weather been less rainy. The hot tub was to die for. We have 2 small dogs who loved being here too. There is a short walk on the site for dogs on leads. There are a number of other places to drive to if you want to let them have a long off lead run. This vacation has been just what was needed after a stressful time. We leave feeling totally recharged and relaxed. Thankyou so much for giving us such a lovely time. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in number 33 Sunflower Retreat. From start to finish this wasn't what we had hoped for, upon arrival the van hadn't been cleaned, dirty bedding, rubbish etc.. not a great start (cleaning staff were amazing and sorted it asap for us, Jasmine was super lovely) We found the site lovely and quiet and had no issues, relaxing atmosphere and friendly guests and staff. The caravan was lacking in various areas however, no spare bin bags, no tea towels to dry the dishes!! Very lacking in basic cooking equipment, 1 broken and bent frying pan and a saucepan that the nonstick had flaked away. Totally useless! 4 plates while there was 6 of us booked to stay, just general mismatch of items made up the cupboards and not adequately supplied for making meals. The bed in one of the rooms broke while my daughter was sat on it resulting in a bruised back and her being told to just "sleep on the sofa" I contacted the owner who clearly didn't have the time of day for us, stating she was out and busy and there was nothing she could do. She still has not responded to my last message. We made the most of our weekend and enjoyed time in the hot tub which was lovely, it could do with being enclosed with some higher fencing as the entire site could see us?! And most of the other tubs on site looked alot more private. We would return to the site however the lack of communication and facilities provided have ensured we won't return to this particular owners caravan.

We have just returned from our family holiday staying at Bockenfield park and have had a very disappointing week. We stayed in one of the privately owned lodges, on first inspection the lodge was as advertised and seems fine. However we were told on arrival that the hot tub was faulty but safe to use as the jet function had been disconnected to make it safe. On the first day we opened the hot tub but did not go in as it was not clean. There were bits floating in the water and some black plastic parts around the edge had green/algae like discolouration. Overnight however the electricity in the lodge repeatedly tripped out and we narrowed it down to being caused by the hot tub. After unplugging the hot tub the electricity finally stayed on. We notified the owner the next morning but unfortunately the hot tub remained out of use for the entire week which was very disappointing. Aside from this the site itself was having some work done to place a new lodge and ground works were being done to place sewage pipes which caused a vile smell throughout a lot of the site. On warm days the smell was so bad we had to keep all the lodge windows and doors shut because of the stink. Really put a downer in our family holiday which is a shame but the surrounding area and seaside was lovely.

The park itself is canny, caravan/ Lodge is clean and adequate. Fine for a family of 4. Hot tub is not as private as I'd like but that's just personal preference. Lovely seating area on the balcony Park is good for little ones but no zip wire. Unfortunately they are building just opposite our lodge and right beside the play park. Really dangerous for younger kids and so noisy-im no expert in health and safety but even I can see its an accident waiting to happen Tried to ignore it the first couple of days but its hard to relax when you can hear it 9am Normally it wouldn't matter so much as we would be out all day but I've just been in hospital for Two weeks so was looking forward to sitting on the balcony with a book. Got the videos but won't let me upload them for some reason

We?ve just got home from the most amazing and relaxing place, just what we needed to start the half term holiday. Welcome basket was fab with all the info you need for your stay. It was so clean and tidy and all the extra little touches (like blankets for sitting outside, TV with Netflix and all the necessities you need) made the visit one to remember. The hot tub was absolutely great too, so relaxing and a wonderful, tranquil view of the countryside. We will definitely be returning to Olives Place, it is one of the best places we?ve stayed, we would highly recommend it. Thanks for making our stay so memorable

We stayed in Mildreds Lodge, Number 39 for 3 nights over bank holiday weekend gone comprising of 5 adults and 1 child. Location wise it is situated just of the A1 however that said it is incredibly quiet and peaceful and we heard no nearby traffic. It is a great base to explore nearby places and you are a short drive from both Morpeth and Alnwick meaning you have lots of options available to yourself. There are also a few takeaways that deliver direct. There is a park on site to amuse children which is of a good size. The lodge is within walking distance of two pubs/restaurants. The Time Out Tavern situated on Bockenfield Country Park which serves food and drink and offers regular entertainment including bingo, quiz, karaoke and play your cards right. It also sells numerous household items like toilet roll, toothpaste in the event you have forget anything and the Crazy Saloon which is located on the next park over which is Felmoor. In comparison it is a lot larger and likewise offers food and drink and has a games area downstairs consisting of darts, pool, air hockey, foosball etc. There is also a tourist information section with leaflets and information regarding lots of local places to visit. The lodge we were staying in consisted of three bedrooms, one double with an ensuite and two singles meaning it slept 6 and there was a pull out for the living room which will fit another person if necessary together with a separate bathroom, hot tub and decking area with bbq, chairs and table. There is also lots of grass surrounding the back of the lodge. We found it very clean however there were a fair few areas in need of some TLC. There were several marks/stains on the carpets, walls which had a fair few marks which could do with a repaint and the fridge was very creeky and noisy and needs attended too. The kitchen had everything you need such as pans, cutlery, plates, bowels, kettle, microwave, table mats etc. We found on occasions there was insufficient glass ware available. On arrival we were greeted with a bottle of wine and box of chocolates which we found a nice touch. Generally speaking in the days running up to our visit we found our host to not be the most responsive which we considered a huge shame as we loved the lodge and surrounding area but the communication aspect really let the place down. I enquired as much as 5 days in advance whether check in before the usual time of 3 was permitted. I received a response the day of arrival at 7pm saying it was fine. By this point we were already there. Similarly a day prior to check in I was told towels came at additional cost. I enquired twice as the price and still no reply. Good job we took some with us. We were told toilet roll was included however were given 2 toilet rolls between 6 people for 3 days which is not at all sufficient. We had no issue at all supplying our own but it would have been nice if the host was more clear of the situation. Wifi is payable which again we had no problem with and costs £10 for the stay however our host only made us aware of this a day prior with less than 24 hours? notice together with the payment details and stated if not paid in advance it couldn?t be sorted on arrival. Honestly I think all the above should have been brought to the guests attention a lot sooner than a day prior, it all seemed very last minute. I found it odd though that it was stated you have to pay for wifi as on arrival there was a wifi box with the password on it meaning even if you didn?t pay the box would be there, unless the host would physically remove the box. There are very strict rules regarding the hot tub. For example the park observes quiet hours between 9am-8am meaning the hot tub cant be used between these hours. This was fine for us as it is a family stay however again this should be made clear in advance as groups of friends etc are likely to go to use the hot tub solely as it is the main reason for their stay. Similarly there were signs stating you can only use it for a certain period of time with a break of over an hour in between which seemed rat

Booked a 4 night break at the above lodge . On entering the property we noticed how dirty and dusty the lodge was .Kitchen units full of dust, skirting boards full of dust, extractor fans full of dust , under the two couches full of dust. Bathroom toilet brush disgusting. We contacted the owner and she did come out to inspect the property and agreed it wasn?t up to her standards and offered to clean the property straight away. Overall the lodge was good with the hot tub but needs updating inside the lodge . The park was excellent with the two bars/pubs . We would go again but only if the cost of the lodge is reasonable priced

We stayed at Brackenrigg Lodge for three nights with a late booking. The park is on the A1 but this lodge is far enough away you hear nothing. The park was very quiet and this lodge looks onto a small river/stream. Very peaceful and very private with the hot tub at the rear on a raised decking. The lodge is well equipped with a bean bag that the kids loved. Decent sized tv that had Netflix on it but we found it lost its internet signal about 7pm..maybe other lodges logging on then and causing buffering? No wifi code for general use either with contradictory info online. Wasn?t an issue tho as we wanted an escape!! Beds were ok and the place comfortable enough. My only criticisms were the individual lodge wasn?t as clean as it could be with stour on the ceiling and the floor not swept. Also there was a wood burning stove but we weren?t aware we needed kindling which was easily solved to be fair. This lodge has a decked area to the side which isn?t finished yet. Private car park space. Communication with the owner fantastic throughout and had we any issue I?m sure theyd have resolved quickly.

Just make sure you are aware of the rules of 'quiet' time on site. We were not made aware whilst booking and had no documentation to make us aware of this and were threatened with the police (who obviously have more serious matters to be attending to) and made to come out of the hot tub 10pm. The booking site has mixed rules some lodges have a 11pm rule for coming out of hot tub. How can there be different rules for individual lodges. This spoilt my birthday treat from my daughters. Obviously will not be returning. Only go if you are going to be quiet as a mouse.

Just back from a weeks stay at bockenfield country park. We visited the bar everyday. Barbara and Scott were very welcoming and friendly. The pool and air hockey were a big hit. Our son archy said the best part about his holiday was meeting Scott. Can't wait to stay at the park again at Xmas
