I met a friend today for an early lunch at the Angel in Corbridge, where we went for the classics -fish and chips and a burger.
I don't usually have burgers (they're not part of my eating routine), but l'd been quietly looking forward to this one.
And it didn't disappoint me: juicy beef, a good dose of flavour and the gherkins pulling their weight.
Afterwards, I felt rather like those travellers of old, arriving weary at the posting inn and finding themselves well looked after.

Booked a table for Sunday Lunch, quite taken aback by how shabby this place is! We were seated in an empty room with very dull decor and zero atmosphere. We were going to leave once we realised they were asking £26 for Sunday lunch in a place where the carpets were literally threadbare! Stuck it out as it had started raining and ordered. Food came quickly, we moved tables as they had stuck is in the corner behind a door. Food was tasty but would have been nice to have been offered extra gravy. Paid and left rapidly and enjoyed coffee in a lovely cafe round the corner that had bothered to make their kerb appeal much more welcoming.

Visited for food and drinks yesterday with friends after hearing good reviews. All of us were very disappointed with the food. Over cooked, stale brioche buns which basically wasn?t edible, pulled pork in sandwiches that wasn?t really warm and also didn?t taste very nice and bland fish sandwiches. When giving feedback to waiting staff and saying we didn?t enjoy it, we didn?t receive any apology, instead an awkward she would pass the message on to the chef. No one else came and seen us whilst we finished our drinks to apologise for food. Disappointing and wouldn?t recommend.

I can't comment on the rooms, though I did stay one night in 2003, but had an excellent lunch at the Angel recently, with great service.

We had a meal here which we really enjoyed. Menu is a nice mix of classics and more creative dishes and includes some really good vegetarian options. I loved the enoki tempura.

Good food but had to wait quite a while for it! Even though busy the service was very slow. People who had came in quite a while after us got served first. Lots of space in the bar & outside. Parking in the street at parking meter. Dogs allowed.

Disappointing. Went for a 2 course Sunday lunch. Lunch was fine but waited 35 minutes for pudding and it didn?t arrive. Made the assumption it hadn?t been ordered through so just asked for the bill. Turns out it had been put on the bill.
I then asked for them to be taken off and was provided with another bill at a higher total. The member of staff then said it was higher because it wasn?t the 2 course offer?! I said that didn?t make any sense and I realised it was for a different table. Eventually got the correct bill with what was ordered and to be honest, the value isn?t great when only having one course as the price difference is £2. £26 for a Sunday lunch alone which isn?t on priced on their menu. Overall, really really disappointing to have the staff try and make excuses and then to leave feeling a little ripped off.

Just had a lovely night's stay here for £130 for b and b. The room was spotless and comfy, staff welcoming and the breakfast was fabulous- set us up all day it was so plentiful! Choice of fruits, cereals, croissants and bread and then cooked breakfast. Daz had his normal full English with eggs, bacon, sausage black pudding, fried bread, beans , hash brown, tomato and mushroom and I had the vegetarian of veg sausage, fried bread, hash brown, spinach, tomato, mushroom, and beans . Honestly could only manage a biscuit for lunch as we were still full!! Dog friendly, plenty of parking (remember to log in and give reg) and helpful staff none of whom seemed to be over 30! Am I getting old??
