Lovely staff and quick service but the food we got - takeaway fish and chips, was not good and very expensive for what we got (£25 for 2!) we won't order this again. Very greasy and unappealing chips, fish was thoroughly cooked but tasteless. Very disappointed but hopefully the restaurant food is better.

Popped in while waiting for the bus back to Newcastle, 4 ales on really good pub /restaurant. Most people were in for the food, which was quite busy because it was only early afternoon. But well worth a visit if you are in the

Nearly stayed the night here but found much better accommodation and price at the Wheatsheaf hotel further up the street. Called in for a drink en route to a restaurant and was charged £12.50 for a large wine. As someone who travels a lot with work and regularly drinks in Newcastle City centre, this is the most expensive glass of wine I have paid (outside of London). I queried it with the staff and was shown the pricelist to prove it was correct. I had already taken a drink or would have rejected it. Avoid drinking here as they also serve low quality ales at premium prices too. Cold, uncomfortable bar area, means the quality and pricing are at odds with each other. The bar surrounds old, mis matched tables and chairs, and the ambience is poor. There are better places in Corbridge that charge a fair and reasonable price. Won't be back

Wish we had read the previous Trip Advisor reviews before eating here. It was our first visit since lockdown and standards have fallen. The food is very overpriced for what you get, in terms of quality and taste and if visiting Corbridge I would definitely advise eating at one of the other establishments such as the Black Bull. Having read the managers stand off responses to any criticism and his unwillingness to address this in any positive manner there seems little point in even contacting him. Our opinions seem to agree with many other comments on here.

We visited as a party of 6. A very disappointing experience. First of all we were shown to a table in the dog room, which unless you have a dog with you is pretty awful with hairs embedded into the carpet etc. However this issue was quickly resolved and we were shown to another table in the bar area. Ordering the food and actually getting some drinks was a fairly complex matter too with the waitress to her own admission not understanding the menu. But instead of finding out for us she just kept smiling and saying she didn't know. Once ordered the food arrived fairly quickly. We all had soup for starter which was fine but the main courses were very disappointing, and poor value. There was a January sale menu, which was very misleading. One of the offers was a beef pie main and soup starter which was reduced from £32 to £16, given the soup alone was £6 there is no way the meat pie was originally £26! The pie itself was ok but the accompanying veg was very poor and the potatoes cold and dry. The fish n chips ordered were very average for the price and the ham dish was dry. We would not recommend this place to anyone with so many better value, quality and service restaurants in the area. Although the service was poor the staff were pleasant.
