The Amber Chinese takeaway is a little hidden away in Corbridge on St Helen's Street.
There is good parking outside while you pop in to order or wait to collect your food.
The building, inside and out, does not fill you with confidence that what you order will be anything amazing. While clean and tidy, it is a little dated.
The food, however, is excellent. We opted for the set two person menu with sweet and sour chicken and beef in black bean sauce. This came with soup - the best we've had - spring rolls, prawn crackers, and egg fried rice.
We also added a chicken with cashews, which was light and delicious.
Sharing between three people we had lots left over, despite our best efforts. The portions are generous and all of the food was excellent.
The Amber offers good tasty Chinese food at reasonable prices served quickly. Highly recommended.

Really disappointed, food was bellow the standard we expected for a Chinese, for example batter was soft, chewy and tasted raw. Extremely salty and sweet and sour sauce was more sweet than sour, the samosas, spring roles and prawn toast were nice, however we still had do abandon over half our plates due to the quality of the food. The food was very pricey for what it was, cant fault portion sizes though. Could have been a bad one-off experience since other reviews are genuinely quite good, however we will not be going back.

Been here a number of times when visiting my family. The food is always prepared quickly, the menu is extensive and never had a bad meal here

Really nice food, lots of options, very well priced
Vegetarian options: If the exact vegetarian dish you want isn?t on the menu, just ask. Very friendly people, they?ll do their best.

Ordered from here as it was highly recommended and my normal was shut. Food was disgusting, chips tasted like they had been reheated over and over again. Egg fried rice was tasteless and hard. Sweet and sour sauce was like water. Will never order from here again

Divine food like a gift from god portions were SO big but affordable we over ordered quick service and for 60p we got reusable chopsticks like hello?? Bargain o clock

Food was very bad for the price, chips were stale and stodgy, tasted and had the texture of being cooked yesterday and refried today, the Cantonese sauce was unlike any Cantonese style sauce I?ve come across it mainly tasted of red wine? weird and inedible. The fried rice felt like microwave rice with a bit of egg thrown in, and they charged us more than what the menu had advertised, and to add insult to injury my fortune cookie had no fortune in it! Ironic.

Food is not nice . Cheap , sticky mess . Salt and pepper ribs are horrible dry clearly cooked a week before and stored , cheap ribs aren?t actually ribs just chunky bones of some sort Shame as used to be nice here but gone down hill the last 6 monthes . Also have a couple of us an upset stomach through the night . Won?t go back every again

My god, this place is the best Chinese takeaway ever! I live in France and have had many Chinese takeaways in the UK and abroad and without a shadow of a doubt this place is amazing! So fresh, the quality of the food is exceptional, just have a peek in the kitchen, you can see the freshness of everything they are preparing.
