My visit was for an early evening meal following recommendations and the upgrade since the recent change in ownership. We were a party of three who enjoyed our meal on a cold windy January evening in warm surrounding made all the better with the open fire.Food & drinks: In a comfortable and warm dining area we enjoyed drinks and good food from a menu which offered a good choice. The meal made all the more pleasant by the friendly and efficient staff.

Visited the Golden Lion today for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely superb. The food was tasty and beautiful. The staff were great and the food was well priced. Great ambiance. The best place to eat in Corbridge.

Adrian and his team have done a brilliant job. A welcome addition to Corbridge. Somewhere else nice to visit.Food & drinks: Decent choice of reasonably price beers and wines.Noteworthy details: Spotlessly clean olde worlde country inn. Open fires and a nice friendly atmosphere.

We were booked in to stay for 2 nights early October as we had a wedding to go to. We turned up to find the place locked down and in complete darkness and no number to call as it wouldn't connect. Asked next door in the coop to find it was closed for renovation due to change in management. No one had called us to say it was closed. A few very stressed calls to other places nearby we ended up having to drive to Ponteland at 9.50pm to a lovely pub called The Diamond Inn where the staff were amazing.I would give no stars if I could. Very disappointed by our experience and if this is how they treat guests I would suggest they change the way they operate.

We got our drinks and sat by the bay window at the front looking over the high street. I noticed the dust on the wood by our table, it hadn't been cleaned for days, I then looked around and there was tissues on the floor beside the tables near us. I'd drank three quarters of my pint and then looked at my glasses , it was manky. I have a photo of my glass but I'm not going to embarrass the bar by publishing it. We left what was in our glass and left.

We turned up and loved the deceptively Tardis-like size of the pub and it's warm and friendly setting and surrounds. Sadly, never got to stay as, despite it being the weekend and despite Corbridge being packed there was nobody in here at peak time as there was no food on offer and incredibly no beer or ale or Stout....just gassy lager and tap bitter. The barman was very apologetic but what a disaster to screw up the delivery in such a way! Our first visit too!

It's clear that this business is suffering so it's hard to stick the boot in but even in a downturn, some things are non-negotiable... like cleanliness. Sticky tables, empty used glasses stacked on tables, boxes of Christmas decorations stashed in a corner, random boxes stored around the pub, a mountain of filthy and worn garden furniture cushions under the pool table and cleaning supplies sat on a table. It's not a good look and a terrible first impression. With various excuses about why most of the taps were empty, it was disappointing not to be able to sample some of the local brews and had to stick to the standard drink options that could have been consumed anywhere in Britain. Such a great location and interesting space, could be so much more than it is. Moving onto the accommodation, we paid for bed, breakfast and evening meal but due to no chef being available, there was no evening meal. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise as our schedule changed last minute so we were able to change our plans without being tied to dinner (the cost for which was reimbursed). Rooms were well appointed, with a spacious bathroom and unexpected USB sockets on the plugs. Only complaint was ill fitting windows and a loud noise from the water pipes all night that sounded like there was someone in my bathroom on a faulty CPAP machine. I did consider that someone could have been in the next room struggling to catch his breath while snoring his head off but we were the only ones staying there. Breakfast was the one glimmer of light. A delicious full English was just what we needed to kickstart the day and that's precisely what we got. Would have preferred brewed coffee than instant and fresh orange juice to the concentrated stuff... and the occasional microwave bing as host Pete prepared the feast for us was a little concerning. We were graciously provided with a visitors parking pass that saved us a few quid so that was nice. Overall it was cheap and adequate, well appointed and located but with so many other great options in town, it wouldn't be my first choice next time. Sorry Pete.
