We visited when travelling home on Friday morning, I popped in first to ask if they were dog friendly and they were happy to accommodate which was great.
As it was early we wanted breakfast items, we sat for a short while and noticed there weren?t breakfast items on the menu therefore my partner went up to ask to which he was told to sit down as it?s table service.
A member of staff came over to take our order after about 10 minutes, we asked what breakfast items were available - bacon and egg rolls. We opted for 1 tea cake (£3 on menu), 3 x hot chocolates ?with the works? (£4.25 each), an orange juice (£3), 1 bacon and egg roll and a child?s bacon and egg sandwich (not available on menu to price). The food came quite promptly however the drinks didn?t arrive until we were pretty much finished eating.
We did overhear another member of staff let a table near us know there?d been a problem behind the counter and she apologised for the delay however we didn?t receive this. When we went up to pay, another gentleman was requesting the drinks to be removed from his bill as he hadn?t received and was told they were on the counter to be brought over, to which he responded he?d already finished his food so it seemed everyone?s drinks orders were taking a long time.
I asked for the bill and paid, £34.50!
It wasn?t until I was back in the car I realised this seemed quite a lot and decided to go back and query £15.75 for the two sandwiches (one being a child?s with less bacon rashers as advised by the waitress and put into two slices of bread!).
Between a couple members of staff they tallied up what we?d bought - a member of staff advising as I only had cream in my hot chocolate and no marshmallows 25p should be removed from the bill and eventually they decided I was owed 75p back?! I?m still not sure how they actually came to that conclusion as at one point she tried to show me the cost of the sandwiches on the menu although they aren?t on there and it made me realise had I not double checked they?d still have overcharged me and £33.75 for what we had in my opinion is still ludicrous.
Meanwhile whilst I?m stood waiting for this to be sorted from the staff a wonderful voice shouts from the kitchen ?girls there?s plenty dishes to be done instead of standing around doing nothing? how lovely and professional in front of a customer, personally I won?t be returning and had I known how close we were to a nearby farm I?d definitely have opted to go there!

Refused to take card payment for two drinks claiming that the card fees were too expensive - nonsense in 2025, they?re a cost of doing business and a percentage regardless of the total amount. That was after having not been served for 15 minutes (despite plenty of staff walking past). Then proceeded to ?chase? me as I was leaving to make snide comments about how my business must have higher margins than hers (which I doubt given the over 100% mark up on cold drinks!). Pity as it looked like a nice cafe in a good location.

Perfect place to stop as a weary traveller, we had coffee and sandwiches. Very friendly staff and dog friendly too.

Always decent food here. The waitresses are good but the owner always makes you uncomfortable and feel unwelcome. It's a shame.
