If you're interested in art you might like to pop in, it's housed in the same Granary complex that the YHA is in. The young girl at the gallery reception was very helpful and offered to dry my coat and look after my luggage whilst I viewed the artwork and sheltered from the rain today (15/03/2024). Thank you very much

Well it would have been nice to be able to review the food here, as I called en route to the excellent Ann Redpath exhibition upstairs. I was soaked to the skin due to heavy rain and desperate for a coffee. However I stood for 5 minutes at the counter as the two staff studiously avoided any eye contact and did not even speak to me. A "be with you in a moment" would have been courteous. I was so puzzled I actually asked whether there was table rather than counter service, and was firmly told "no" with a couple of scowls. After a few more moments I simply left on the basis that my custom was not welcome. I will not be back.

Not visited for many years. Tucked away so you have to know how to find it. Delicious carrot and coriander soup with sour dough roll and butter...yum!

We visited the gallery on the 2nd floor whilst staying at the YHA hostel in the building. It was only open on certain days from 11am, so worth checking opening times on the gallery website. It can be accessed directly from the city walls or from the ground floor via lift or stairs. It is free to visit with donations accepted. Nicely presented with about 20 pieces of artwork on display across the room which was divided into sections. Particularly liked the artwork of Anne Redpath which was on display when we visited. Probably will take 20 to 30 minutes to look round the artwork on display.

Big up the welcome from these guys after we and our puppy got soaked in the pouring rain trying to get a meal in four other places. The staff couldn?t have been nicer and even cooked us something that was not on the evening menu!

Popped in to see the Anne Redpath exhibition. Nice wee gallery. The front door is a bit heavy and could be improved (motorized) for better disabled access.

Absolutely awful service. We were waiting for 15 minutes at the bar/counter with no acknowledgement from the serving girl who was behind the bar, not even a hello, or even just asked to wait a moment. We wanted to put our order in and go back to table as we had baby?s waiting. She wasn?t rushed and made incredibly slow coffees and took drinks one drink at a time to different tables. Have never seen someone so terrible at their job.

Menu after 5pm is predominantly nachos. A disappointment I asked if there was anything else - such as gouging advertised- was told they were on day time menu only.

We have visited this place several times now and although it's a nice place the food is seriously lacking. The cheese scones must be vegan as they are hard and dry with little flavour, most cakes ok except the vegan one which is not nice.the toasties are limp and lack filling? It's a shame really, because if the food was better this place would be packed.
