Great location on the outskirts of Portrush with ample parking and function rooms. The hotel rooms are a bit dated and the building is in need of a general modernisation everywhere as it is an older style/decor hotel. Great cakes and buns from Leona's tea room (you girls will be missed...) and a good range of beers and wines served by friendly and professional bar staff.BUT..... this place will close to the public in a few weeks and will no longer be used as a hotel. In a non-publicised sale to a hotelier in Belfast the Magherabouy will now be used to house immigrants for an unspecified number of years to come, with a payment of £162,000-odd made by the new owner to the local council. All pre-booked weddings and functions have already been cancelled and the bar will be removed with many staff, including some of our friends, losing their jobs.Such a sad end for a landmark hotel. With a bit of development this place had the potential to be a much needed luxury spa hotel in Portrush.

Solid rooms, big open parking, very friendly stuff and a fine-looking bistro/bar. Not too far away from the city-center

Room is spacious, but have an old feeling. Staff is very friendly. Could k5 get WiFi working as we had a room at a very far end, the WiFi network was not available.Food & drinks: Dinner was OK, breakfast was plated and staff was in attendance. Buffet breakfast would have been better.

This is the first time My wife and I stayed in this Hotel, but first impressions count, and we won?t be staying again, we think the house keeping manager would need to be replaced, or re trained, entrance steps all tiles broken, plant boxes all dead plants not even cleaned out, pure lazinesses, door glass on all doors hand marks all over not cleaned.hand dirt all around door lock and wood of door behind receptionist this took a long time to build up shame, lift dirty floor never washed, room 303 no less than 6 patches on the carpet outside the door a patch covered with black carpet tape about 18 inches square, curtains linings all tore and hanging off , breakfast very poor, knifes and forks sticky not clean all of them not just one, table moved about like a rocking horse my wife ask for apple juice the glass came with finger prints all round the top,I have been a tour driver for 30 years and have stayed in many many hotels over those years this has to be one of the worst there was a table in are room not one chair what was the purpose of the table, but reading many other reviews I see many people think like us ,the outside of the building does not look anything like the pictures on the internet sorry guys yous are the loosers at a price of £280 for two nights for a classic standard room this wasn?t worth £20 a night I though I was staying as a guest, but felt I was a hotel inspector ,stay a few nights in the lodge hotel and they will show you how to do it ,or Smugelers inn this is where I got my dinner, as breakfast was so poor, so take on board if you will but yous are the loosers as I have already said.Rooms: Poor standardsSafety: HygeneWalkability: Broken tiles at front doorFood & drinks: Very poorNoteworthy details: Dirt poor food

The room was a good size with a double and single bed. Both the bathroom and bedroom were spotless although the bedroom carpet was ripped in places. A massive issue was the heat in the room. We were able to switch off the radiator in the bedroom but the bathroom radiator was stuck at boiling point. This meant we had to make sure our 5 year old grandson didn't go near it! Unfortunately we didn't have a good night's sleep due to how uncomfortable the beds were. The Pillows were also rock hard. It was a quiet room overlooking the garden area so we didn't have any issue with noise. The staff in the hotel were attentive and friendly. The breakfast the following morning was just OK but the staff did a great job. My grandson wanted scrambled egg but parts of it looked green??? In the end he opted for cereal. The hotel isn't far from the promenade. It took 5 mins to drive to the amusements. I wouldn't return to the hotel as it is very dated but the staff definitely do the hotel justice.

Granted, I visited this hotel in order to see a local musical production of Shrelso I was only in one room. However, staff were very friendly (especially the bar staff who accomodated my weird request ?)!The location is very easy to get to, whether you drive or (as was our case) take the bus. The bus stop is a short walk away from the hotel with a bus going by every thirty minutes or so.
