Bought 2 hot chocolates in the cafe and it came to £7.10 which is obscene. Extremely milky and were tepid temperature, i just couldn't believe what i was seeing. Even in big chains it would not cost this much, really sad that businesses have used the cost of living to justify gouging their customers in this way. I love to suppprt local but absolutely won't be visiting hillside cafe again.

I bought 2 sets of Christmas lights on 11th December 2023 from this local garden centre explaining to the cashier that I wasn't sure which length would suit the little tree best which I was taking to dad for his first Christmas in a residential care home. She told me I could exchange if needed. In the interim I found a set of lights amongst the Christmas decorations in the loft that fitted the bill. I had also in the intervening week bought a new snow flocked tree from another shop for which I wanted lights with a clear lead. So off I headed this afternoon, 18th December, to exchange the 2 sets of shorter lights for a longer set for the new tree. When I got to the cashier's desk I was told that I could now no longer have an exchange as Christmas stock had now gone into sale! I was not forewarned a week ago that this was imminent. In spite of it being the 'season of goodwill' I was met by intransigence even though I was going to be buying a much more expensive set of lights! An exchange was refused. Needless to say, I did not proceed with the purchase of the larger set of lights. This is a salutary reminder never to return to Hillside Garden Centre whose café I found very disappointing a few months ago. I would rather drive further to one of the Creative Gardens centres where the shopping experience and customer service is infinitely better. They will get a sale of lights from me tomorrow.

Good selection of products & Christmas items but drastically overpriced, i bought an identical outside Xmas light elsewhere for £20 less. It's lost it's 'magical appeal' that it used to have, now it's just a very expensive Xmas shop

Ate in restaurant. Charged almost £16 for 2 hot chocolate drinks, a scone with jam, and a German biscuit. Needless to say we won't be back nor will our friends. A right rip off. The hot chocolate was over £3 each and an extra £1.15 each for a squirt of cream and a few mini marshmallows.

This store is more than a garden centre, there is so much selection, we got a few Christmas bits then went to the Cafe which is lovely. We've been here quite a few times.

Garden centre is excellent but the cafe really lets it down. Staff are very unhelpful and rude - not a welcoming experience at all.

Café is a big open space and not very cosy. Didn?t notice any healthy options bar stew and soup. Garden centre isn?t as good as it used to be with the new Christmas layout. Expensive decorations too. This used to be a haunt for me but not anymore. Staff very helpful and friendly when we were looking for something specific - they went out of their way to assist.

One of the best garden centres in Newtownabbey, they have everything for all your gardening needs. We enjoyed are last visit to the nursery as it was filled with Christmas decorations and props they'd everything you could imagine. All the staff are pleasant and are willing to help with any of your requests. They also have an awesome aquactic centre located inside the store which provide salt water, fresh water and out door pond fish, aquariums, pumps, food and more. Keep up the good work, we will see yous all again. Thank you and Merry Christmas ?

My family and I go to the hillside nursery centre to see the Christmas decorations and the Christmas trees too. It's a good big store with lots of items to see and also a cafe too,I would recommend the hillside nursery centre to everyone looking for Christmas decorations and just like seeing Christmas lights or singing reindeer too.

We went late summer looking for Brussels sprouts seedlings. We found some labelled in poor condition and it turns out they are savoy cabbages which we wouldn?t be fans of! Not impressed.

Just popped in for a couple of coffees/teas & lunch - good variety of food & quality, reasonably quick que, excellent staff (some could smile more), worked out at £10 per head

We were there on Saturday 11/11/23 at 3.30pm. We went to the cafe. There was no hot food left, no soup, no sausage rolls or any of the other lovely thing?s advertised on their menu. There were a few tray bakes left. The queue for tea and coffee (because that?s all you could get) was taking a very long time as the lady on the till was also the lady who had to get the ice creams for the kids. We were very disappointed. This cafe used to be amazing and well worth a visit to the garden centre just to go to the cafe. If the garden centre opens 5/6 the cafe should be able to provide its full menu to that time. Another member of staff was cleaning the hot plates as if they were packing up. I?m sorry to give reviews for the garden centre based on my experience in the cafe. The centre itself is great but cafe let it down yesterday
