A severely disabled elderly relative visited Abbeycentre a couple of months ago for a rare day out. Their carer parked in a disabled parking bay with their blue badge, and as my relative is unable to walk, they slowly mobilised around the centre using a mobility aid. The Abbeycentre used to be a great draw for us. The insane traffic during peak times has driven us elsewhere. The night we called, to get inspiration for an 80th birthday gift, half the shops were closed. Mind you, the corridors of the centre were mostly empty. Large indoor shopping centre, just 6 miles from Belfast City Centre. 70+ stores including Next, Primark, Dunnes Stores and Poundland. Open until 9pm every weeknight with free parking for up to 4 hours. Services include hospitality (Nando’s, McDonald’s and more), banking, opticians, pharmacies, medical practice, shoe repairs and locksmith.
