Disappointing. Most menus weren?t available. Chicken pesto pasta was drown in oil and tasted like microwave meal. Also charged £4 for tap water.
It seems like the restaurant was taken over by different owner.

The Tam O Shanter has a lovely old traditional style and feel. A welcoming glowing stove warms you as you take in the ambience. The food is fantastic, quality ingredients with a touch of 'home cooked' familiarity to it.Friendly family run business that doesn't forget how good the personal touch makes the dining experience.

my husband and I had one of the best meals ever last night in the beautiful downstairs area. it was lovely and welcoming with a beautiful stove lit. the menu was fantastic and we had to try the haggis as it's very rare on a menu here. it didn't disappoint. I loved the Scottish theme with pictures of Highland cows, my favourite animal ever. we will definitely be back.

Lovely quiet local spot. Delicious carvery & the staff were so welcoming on a cold wet windy day after a long journey. Definitely recommended.

Best place we ate the whole of our trip in Northern Ireland. Food, service and company was amazing. Portions are generous and delicious. BBQ wings smothered in sauce, chicken and pulled pork burger and seafood tagliatelle. I?m not a lover of mussels, when I asked to remove them from the dish I was immediately offered a replacement of another fish. There was more than enough fish and the sauce was lovely. Fresh chips and a burger that was demolished. We would have happily come back every day if we?d been staying longer. While you wait for food you can chat to the very friendly locals or look at all the funny signs and details around the bar. I believe there was a bigger dining area upstairs if needed. The company was lovely, the owner was cheerful and happy to help wherever she could. We could not recommend this place more. We?ll be back next time to try the cheesecake and hope to spend another evening winding up Jeff?

Wow! Staying in Kilkeel, a quiet fishing village and the home of my wife?s ancestors. This was our first dinner out. Pleasant attentive staff, outstanding food, fun atmosphere! Did I mention the food? We shared the seafood linguine, a marvelous combination of mussels, prawns and fish, pasta and sauce. Oh the sauce! Just delicious. Garlic bread was also perfect. The pricing was really reasonable. The other patrons were fun and interested in us, the foreigners.Update: OK, we?re home now and wanted to say of all the meals we had in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, this was the best! Thanks!!

Best Gammon dish I ever tasted out by. Lovely home made chips. Real chunk of gammon. Peas. Fried egg. Fried onion. All to perfection. Absolutely delicious. And friendly staff. A good place. Very good value for the quality I experienced.
