I don?t like leaving bad reviews, but our recent experience at The Tailor?s House B&B in Ballygawley was deeply disappointing and needs to be shared.
We had booked a room for Friday night while attending a wedding. Earlier that day, my son phoned to inform them we?d be arriving late around 12:15 am. The young man he spoke to said it wouldn?t be a problem. He explained that someone should be there, and if not, a key would be left in a secure box at the front of the building.
When we arrived, there was no key box at the front, no instructions, and no way to get in. We had not been given a code, and the only contact number provided was a landline, which went unanswered despite multiple calls.
We contacted *Booking.com*, who also tried to reach the property. After over an hour of delays and unanswered calls, they confirmed they could not make contact with the owners and processed a refund. Meanwhile, we were left standing late at night, in a remote area, with nowhere to stay. It took several hours of ringing around before we were finally able to arrange alternative accommodation.
The following day, I phoned the B&B and spoke with Austin, who was genuinely concerned and expressed surprise at what had happened. She assured me that Niall from senior management would contact me.
I later received a call from a man named Emmett. When I rang him back and explained the situation, he acknowledged fault. He confirmed the key box was actually located at the back of the building, not the front, and admitted we had been given the wrong information. He explained that there had been a recent change in their management system and that a new staff member was being trained.
Despite accepting responsibility, Emmett showed no interest in offering any kind of compensation. When I raised the issue, he said 'You can take the refund or leave it... I?m not offering anything else'
There was no empathy, and no consideration for the stress caused by the situation. His tone was dismissive and arrogant. This response raised serious concerns about how this business treats its guests when something goes wrong.
This experience should never happen to anyone. There must always be a reliable mobile number for emergency contact, and clear, accurate check-in instructions should be provided. Staff must be properly trained before being left in charge of guest arrangements.
I strongly urge others to be cautious before booking this property. The lack of communication, the absence of a backup plan, and the attitude towards guests were unacceptable.

An excellent place to stop for Sunday lunch. Couldn't be faulted from start to finish. Plenty to choose from on the Sunday Lunch menu and staff were extremely accommodating and 1st class service.

Me and my wife stayed just the one night and i couldn't fault it in any way. I called in early in the day just to check in and to book an evening meal as we would be arriving later on and the staff were very helpful.
When we did arrive later our room was perfect, lovely and warm and clean and our meal was excellent a very nice evening was had indeed. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Just a pity we had to leave early the next morning before breakfast for if the evening meal was anything to go on i'm sure the breakfast would have been awesome as well.
A great place to stay or just to have a bite to eat in, first class.

Enjoyed a lovely meal in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There is obviously somebody in the kitchen who really knows what they are doing!

Me and my boyfriend stayed the weekend the hotel staff were wonderful very nice and friendly. The food was out of this world, the fish was the best fish I ever had. I would totally recommend it again.

Charming hotel/inn with a restaurant featuring spot-on delicious dishes. I had the steak which comes from the local butcher. Lovely staff as well.

Stopped by for food on route home from Donegal, totally satisfied with the food, service and ambience.
Had the roast beef and it was delightful.

We stayed at Taylor?s for one night and it was great, it?s a lovely place, with fantastic staff, the food there is very good indeed! I had a venison wellington for dinner and had the best breakfast of my life in the morning, the full Irish fry up is amazing!

Where do I start, absolutely fantastic service, and decor and ambience is 1st class, the food is absolutely delicious and we have not one complaint on them parts of our evening.
Hubby's birthday and it was lovely, beautiful food, beautifully presented and so tasty! Even he tried food he never usually would.
Definitely will be back and would highly highly recommend!
First impressions are 5*

This is a beautiful little hotel, staff made me feel right at home, couldn?t do enough for me, rooms were off a very high standard as was the food and wine quality in the restaurant. Lovelly little touches in the room like fresh filtered water, sewing kits, tea coffee making facilities, and totally spotless, I would give this place 5?? and can?t wait to return.
