Hadn't probably been here since my primary school days and after over 16 years living in England, nice getting to see these places again that aren't usually part of my visits home.

Beautiful little pocket of forest and land - real peaceful.

Great outlook from the top. Can be included in a circular walk around Mountsandel Wood. Takes about one hour. There is a "secret" path from the motte which takes you quickly down to the river's edge.

Interesting, but not really much to see besides a big mound and a bit of a walk if you park in the woodland park area.

First settlement in Ireland! Irish history starts there. Very scenic and excellent walking trails.

Loved this walk as it has points of interest through out. Kids can bring paper and pencils to rub on the plates which will give them a reminder of what they may have seen and also makes it fun for them to.

It?s a lovely place for a walk, with some interesting information on plaques as you wander

Interesting walk, with a the different types of trees, and the spectacular mount itself.

A fairly easy walk that can be accessed from two small car parks on Mountsandel Road. One is across the road from the courthouse, the other is further up the road about 500 yards after the Spar. Both are signposted. The path is rough gravel and a bit muddy in places and there are some steep sections so it's not exactly baby buggy or wheelchair friendly (though doable with some effort). The Fort itself is only accessible on foot and has steep steps but gives good views over the River Bank towards Castleroe.

Parking is a real issue. I find it safest to park at the lay-by across from the old Bannview hospital site and walk the extra few hundred yards. The walk up to and the site itself are very scenic with nice views across the river Bann.

I didn't get to do much of the walk around it. So there could be more of a walk from what I seen. But the fort it's self is nice to walk around for the view

It's a beautiful walk beside the Bann and then up round by the Fort. We went on a winter day. River trees birds peaceful area in the town of Coleraine.
