After reading reviews on here. I rang around other restaurants to try and change my table, unfortunately I couldn't get a suitable time to accommodate everyone in our group.\nWell I am so glad. \nFrom the 1st point of contact with fountain Lane, everything was perfect.\nI emailed them b4 hand and they reserved us a beautiful big round table, with plenty of room.\nThe food was unreal, everyones steak was cooked to perfection, and portions were plenty, everyone of us can't wait to return. Staff couldn't do enough for us, and 3 of the young girls serving actually brought out my sisters cake singing, staff reserved a booth down stairs for us as it was a Saturday evening and a special occasion. Note its January, and they may not be able to in busier months, so thank you fountain Lane for making my sisters 40th dinner such a lovely night.

Was struggling to find somewhere with a table at 6pm on a Friday evening having not booked anything but stumbled upon here. It was noisy and like a drinking pub downstairs but upstairs was quiet and not busy at all. I think they could display more that this is an option as we nearly walked past. \n\nService of drinks was a little slow once order taken but server did apologise. Food was a wait reasonable time and really delicious, proper good pub grub. The peppered chicken was real comfort food and husband said fish and chips with an Asian twist was fantastic. Son has chicken and chorizo burger and daughter (14) had children?s portion of chicken and tomato pasta which was a big portion so good value.

Had been once before during the Summer and decided to try it again at Christmas. Disaster from start to finish. First of all asked for a soda water and lime cordial drink but my friend and I both got soda water with a slice of lime!! The waitress said they had no lime cordial. So i asked another waitress..who by the way seemed to be taking all the strain..if she could swap my drink for another as there was no lime cordial and she said yes we do have that and she sorted it for us. \n\nThen asked for the Christmas Dinner but they had no mashed potato but we said we will have it anyway as there was roast potatoes with it. The meal it self was lovely if not a bit cold. \n\nThen we were nearly charged for a drink we never ordered. We were offered chips with our meal but we declined as it wasnt really suitable with Christmas dinner.\nThere was no discount on our bill even though we didnt get our full menu of choice.\n\nOther customers were waiting a long time to get served etc.\n\nThen when we were leaving the customer next to us got her Christmas Dinner WITH mashed potato!!! \n\nVery sad to write such a bad review but just disappointing night.

Upon arrival the downstairs area had music & a good atmosphere. Unfortunately we were booked in for food which was upstairs. \nWhere do I start? The service is abysmal! We were greeted at the door & brought to our table, where we weren?t approached with a menu for 10 minutes & didn?t get our drink order taken until the menus arrived. \n\nOnce we ordered, the drinks were dropped over to us & the food was very soon behind it which didn?t feel right, definitely too quick! \n\nAgain, the service it was terrible & the food not much better. Salt and chilli\nChicken was just a packet of chicken cooked in the fryer and topped with salad, nothing like salt and chilli flavor. \n\nOrdered water twice and it wasn?t dropped down until the second time. We were sat around waiting on a waiter to order more drinks and then again to get the bill. \n\nMain courses were the worst of it all. Pulled pork burger was 2 small patties topped with microwaved pulled pork & the salmon was swimming in a white sauce which made everything soggy.\n\nWould not recommend.

Booked here online whilst visiting Belfast. We visited n a Friday night, it was very busy and understand food is served upstairs! The food was very good snd they also have certain specials on depending on what night you go. The only thing I would say is that if you look at their drinks menu online this is a bit out of date to their prices now and believe these should be updated to reflect the price change.

Check out the lovely chicken stack I got from fountain Lane ?\nThe mash which was on the menu changed to chips in a blink of an eye\nI did ask the lovely Ronanda who really was very good , (think she should train the rest of the staff ) and when she checked with the chef ?we don?t have any mash potato left ,so thought we would send you out chips instead.\nWOW - IMO that is shocking service, could they not have asked if the mash would be ok to be subbed for chips ? \n\nService down stairs in the bar was as bad , I know bars are really short staffed but it doesn?t help when three staff members are having a conversation while I am trying to order , all three seen me and in the end after 3/4 minutes I had to ask was the bar still open .\n\nMe don?t think I will be back.\nAvoid if you can

A friend and I visited fountain lane on Friday night for dinner and it didn?t disappoint! Comfort food at its finest, also top class cocktails and a reasonable price. We were served by a young lady wearing glasses and she was very attentive and made sure we were well looked after. Highly recommended this place for a lovely meal!

After waiting 15mins to be seated and a further 15mins for someone to finally take a minute to get our order , was served very mediocre over priced badly cooked food . Definitely one to walk past ...mmm..quickly

Myself and my boyfriend visited here over the weekend. \n\nWe sat at one of the picnic benches at the front which was great as there was a real buzzy atmosphere. \n\nOur server was Melissa who was brilliant. She was attentive and personable as well as making some great recommendations on the wine for me! \nIt was really busy all while we were there but we appreciated how great the service was, as well as her taking the time to give us some other recommendations in the area. \n\nOverall, the drinks were good, service was excellent and atmosphere was unbeatable! \n\nWill definitely be back when we return to Belfast!

oh dear. Weve eaten here some time ago and given it 5 stars, but my goodness what a difference today!\n\nThis being difficult times, I keep hearing about restaurants and bars not making it through the pandemic and possibly having to close - all the more reason then, in making a customer welcome and as if you actually want them to eat here.\n\nMy husband and I arrived here today for lunch. Okay hands up, we made the seemingly unforgiveable mistake in not spotting the Wait here to be served sign outside and were standing at the front entrance, there was no queue outside and no member of staff to direct people, and as every establishment seems to have different rules, we simply didnt realise.\n\nwe were greeted by a waitress who , when smiling and asking nicely if we could get some lunch barked "have ya booked" at us. Having explained no...we were handed a menu and she turned on her heel without another word.\n\nAssuming this meant we would be getting served, we sat at a table, and waited.....and waited. The serving staff skilfully avoided eye contact when, after long time we tried to find out what was happening, and feeling distinctly unwelome, we left and went to the Garrick where we WERE made welcome and had a delicious lunch (5 star review posted today)\n\nA little tip.... if you have enough bookings and arent able to accommodate folk, a nice smile and an explanation would be ideal, or if time is a problem, just let your customer know they might have a bit of a wait - glaring at them really doesn't come across well.\n\nThat all said I like to look to the positives, and as I train my own staff in hospitality, I am going to use this as an example how NOT to treat potential customers.

We booked a table for Saturday afternoon just to get small plates and few drinks before moving on. The impression from the waitress/bartender was that we were annoying her by walking in. She wasn't helpful when we asked her for her recommendations. Once our food arrived that is the last we seen any servers until I had to go to bar and ask for bill. Our food just ok I def wouldn't recommend at all, absolutely tasteless...its a pity because from the outside the place looks like it had all the bells and whistles you would want when heading out on a Saturday afternoon for drinks.

was up for the weekend and stumbled across this bar, had live music outside and seemed to have a great atmosphere. We then were told it was pride weekend and they had a day dedicated to Pride. They had music and acts outside which were very entertaining and we were stuck to our seats for the day! we had food upstairs in the restaurant and were severed by a great waitress called Jenny (i think that was her name?). She was really good and helpful and the food was good. When in Belfast would definitely recommend visiting this bar.
