Department Stores in Belfast, Northern Ireland

“Some readers may consider my comments sad, or even pathetic. Please bear with me until you have read my entire comments and then make your judgement. I'm a 68 year old fella from a lovely wee coastal town, some forty minutes from our gorgeous city of Belfast.Today I celebrate being ALIVE. One year ago today, I was released from Antrim Hospital, having been a patient for two weeks, having been the recipient of a BRAIN HEMORRHAGE. SIX WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST HEMORRHAGE I SUSTAINED A SECOND BRAIN HEMORRHAGE. I will forever be so grateful and thankful to all the medical staff in Antrim Hospital and The Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. This is where DUNNES STORE comes into my story. The day I had my first Hemorrhage, I was about to go to DUNNES store in BALLYMENA, but that was not to be.My home town of Larne, closed it's DUNNES store and DUNNES for many in the town, was the very centre of our community, as it was geographically. When DUNNES left town, it was as though the very heart of our community had been ripped out. To celebrate my first year of life after two brain hemorrhages, I spent three days in Belfast, having NOT STAYED IN BELFAST FOR JUST OVER HALF A CENTURY.DUNNES STORE on High Street/Corn Market, Belfast, was my greatest delight for the entire trip. Now I can hear the comments...lol. "Crazy ole goat", "You should see this review. Some old fella spent three days shopping at DUNNES. He's gotta be on something...lol".What a wonderful three days in DUNNES STORE. I got my new socks, underwear in its entirety, meaning; 10 long John's for winter, 10 boxer trunks,9 t-shirts, trousers and finally shirts. I bought a lot more than this in DUNNES and look forward to my next visit. The quality of everything I have ever bought from DUNNES, is truly amazing. As long as DUNNES exists, I shall NEVER BUY MY CLOTHING FROM ANYWHERE OTHER THAN DUNNES.I only have one request of DUNNES. Would it be asking too much to ask the staff at checkout to at very least SMILE. Sadly, all the staff who served me, expressed an abundance of...."I really don't want to be here, and what are you so happy about???". I'm afraid that when you've had a couple of brain hemorrhages, you tend to have a thankfulness and joy in your heart, that you cannot help but desire the same for other people's lives.DUNNES HQ....I'M. SORRY YOU HAD TO CLOSE YOUR STORE IN LARNE, BUT, TRAVEL I SHALL, TO OBTAIN WHAT I CLASS AS THE BEST CLOTHING AVAILABLE, WHETHER RICH OR POOR.”

“This place is a dream come true for TK Maxx fans. Presentation is most of the time super and is rarely a mess like some other TK Maxx’s. Good turnover of displays. Staff wouldn’t be the most helpful, most of them look bored and aren’t very approachable when you’re looking help. Mostly clean. But I’m here more for the selection of homeware and this place DELIVERS.”

“Been shopping here for as long as I can remember! Sadly a rarity now, a department store filled with good quality stock rather than tat. Prices are really reasonable, with a great range from erasers to sofas, and mops to knitting accessories!”

“Visited this store a couple of times and they certainly do have big labels at small prices. I'd have liked to have seen a little more knit wear and perhaps some more Irish Labels, but overall the experience was good and the staff were extremely helpful.I was able to change an item (with the receipt) and was also given the option to have the money replaced on the card.Thank you Oper:6046”

“I recently visited the Asda Living store in Belfast and I was very impressed with the selection of products and the atmosphere of the store. The store is very large and has a wide variety of products ranging from clothing to homewares and electronics. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable. The store also has a great selection of food and drinks, with a wide variety of choices. Overall, I had a great experience shopping at Asda Living and would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a great shopping experience.”

“Just nipped in for a breadbin that my wife saw a few days ago. They have a great selection of almost anything and their sale is now on. The furniture does look quality but it all comes at a hefty price even in the sale. We will go back in the new year now that we know what is on offer.”

“Place is at the corner , if you are new in city google is messed here it quite spin you around. Just enter in cast court building on second floor opposite to Kfc or in front of Mtalan shop.”

“This Matalan seems to have more gents short sleeved shirts which was exactly what I was looking for. Some were even reduced. The store itself is bright with natural daylight coming in from the glass front. The gents clothes are upstairs, there is a lift but the 3 stairways are easier if you are able. You still have to pay downstairs which is a very slight inconvenience.”

“I ordered a coat online that I could only collect from this store. When I tried the coat on inshore it was too big. The member of staff was really helpful. He ordered a different size for me and has arranged for it to be delivered to my local store so I don't have to drive all the way to Belfast again. I believe his name was Marcus. He is a credit to Next and I would definitely recommend a friend or family member to go to this store based on his service. Please pass on my thanks to him.”
