A small co-op , which is ok to grab a few things!

The majority of staff within this Co-Op are lovely, pleasant, and are also the younger employees. The shop is small, and I understand that it's hard to restock with it being that size. There are things I understand that a company needs to do, however hiring rude staff is not one of them. An older woman, grey mid-length hair, glasses, always seems to be missed manners - never for her friends or people she knows. She never rings the bell, even if there is a crowd of 5/6 people, she will just stand and natter, no matter how long it takes. Her lack of manners are a reason we tend to go elsewhere when she's working. She makes us feel very uncomfortable, and seems to be one of those people who will respect older people as she also falls into that category. Younger people shouldn't feel victimised because of one of their workers. I would also expect more manners, rather than a lack of them, from an older staff member - it's just expected from any staff member as they're a company's employee and should be treating consumers to a high standard, not what she is providing. There have been times when she has been so rude I have wanted to walk out; manners say a lot about a person, and a lot about a business. Other than that, great little shop, especially the £5 meal deal which is fab for all the family! And the rest of the staff are genuinely really friendly, unless they're tired, which is understandable :)

Some of the staff are incredibly grumpy while the rest are friendly. Good selection of goods and just a handy shop to have less than 5 minutes away. Good opening hours too!

Decent sized co op this, they sell sandwiches, groceries, magazines and newspapers. Paypoint for top ups etc. Also have a small frozen foods section. They have a sandwich deal, you get a sandwich, crisps and a drink for £3 I think. Good deal for lunch. Parking on street. Theres a mace down the road from the co op but I prefer this store as its bigger and more selection.

This is my "emergency" shop for when I have nowt in the house and can't be arsed walking to Connswater, it's a typical small mini supermarket and as such only carries a limited range of stuff, usually the sort of thing you grab to hurl at the nearest microwave, slop on a plate, wolf down quickly and work out what it actually was by the taste of your burps. My main gripe about this shop are the prices, if something is on offer, then it's OK, but the rest of the stuff, you think "are they having a laugh?" £1.29 for a Pot Noodle? 62p for a standard sized Mars bar? I think I actually paid £1.40 for a loaf and nearly died at the till when the price was rung in. I can honestly say this is the dearest shop locally, and the only good is the amount of reduced stuff on offer with the date up, presumably because no-one will buy it at the original price. The staff are always very good though, considering they're sometimes under pressure by the amount of customers and the shop is always clean as a whistle, if it wasn't for the Dick Turpin prices I'd use it a lot more.

I had to call into this Co op today when coming to the rescue of my student nephew whose fridge was bare. Well bare apart from beer, beer, tom ketchup and some beer. The student cliche really is alive and well. With nothing in his house for tea and only 5 minutes to spare until I had to do the school run to pick up my own children, I nipped into the Co op at the end of his road. Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised as it looked like a grotty little place from the outside. It was spotlessly clean and the limited shelves and fridges were well stocked with a mix of convenience (student staple) and fresh (the nephew would have been too puzzled) food. I left with 2 chicken tikkas, naan bread, a large pizza and some garlic bread for just over £10 - what a result. Even though the shop was really busy, the Manager (Roy if you must know) and the other member of staff were chatty and helpful. As Roy served me, he was also chatting to a very old lady and helping a little girl who had found a stray dog. What a man. The next time the nephew is hungry and has empty fridge syndrome, I'll know where to go.
