I LOVE charity shops! I love the mystery of what hidden treasures lie within but also the fact that you are contributing to a very worthy cause at least I know that this is the case with Abaana. The shop has recently been revamped and what used to be a bit overcrowded has been very thoughtfully tidied. The clothes are neatly hanging in accordance to size and colour and the price has been added so that there is no need for embarrassment when you get to the till! The staff are very pleasant and there is a lot of local information about up and coming events displayed in the store. Everything displayed is of good quality and very realistically priced. There is a certain satisfaction that we are doing our bit for charity when we make that all important purchase, so go on have a browse and I bet you will be pleasantly surprised !

Abaana is not just a great shop on Bangor's High Street it is a great cause too, this is a Bangor based charity and I am a big fan of the work Abaana do. My friends and I ran the Belfast City marathon in aid of this charity two years in a row and it is gratifying when you pass the shop on High Street to know that all that treading tarmac was worth it. The shop itself as other reviewers have said is all over the place and they often jam in everything they have in stock but this goes to show the popularity of Abaana and the generosity of people who donate. They also have hand crafted items that are completely unique, this is Bangor's way of giving back but despite the layout and rumble that you may bump into in the shop I would give this place a visit. There is great parking near by, and if you can park on High Street you are laughing.

Now this is what I call a charity shop. It is not bright and breezy with all the products laid out in tempting ways, no, in fact it is totally the opposite. The shop is dark and there seems to be no method to the chaos that unfolds inside. You will literally be tripping over toys and banging into books from the minute you walk in. There is a kitchen table set up in the middle of the floor with all the kitchen equipment laid out on top. Right next to that there is a bike and a pram - it's hazardous but charming in some ways as it kind of looks like a house that has been robbed and all the stuff has been scattered everywhere. The lady who works here is charming and we had a lovely chat about the stock as well as the wedding dresses she had on display at the back of the shop. Apparently they are all brand new samples from a shop in Belfast and they are all reduced from thousands down to a few hundred, there are some gorgeous dresses to choose from as well. I was pleased and felt quite special to have discovered this secret stash of brand new bridal bargains. I recommend this shop for a good hoak about and you may pick up a wee treasure.
